Overview
This guide, in conjunction with the Software AG Installation Guide, explains how to install, upgrade, and uninstall webMethods Adapter Development Kit 6.5. If you are installing the Adapter Development Kit with webMethods Integration Server (prerequisite) or other webMethods products, this webMethods Adapter Development Kit Installation Guide refers to the Software AG Installation Guide, but you should use the correct installation guide as follows: If you are installing the adapter with webMethods 8 products, refer to the Software AG Installation Guide for instructions. If you are installing the adapter with previous versions of webMethods products, refer to the webMethods Installation Guide for instructions.

Requirements
For a list of the operating systems, webMethods Integration Server releases, webMethods Developer releases, and webMethods Designer releases supported by the Adapter Development Kit, see the webMethods Adapters System Requirements. Adapter Development Kit 6.5 has no hardware requirements beyond those of its host Integration Server.

Installing Adapter Development Kit 6.5

The instructions in this section are meant to be used with the more complete instructions in the Software AG Installation Guide. The instructions explain how to use the Software AG Installer wizard. To install Adapter Development Kit 6.5 Download the Software AG Installer from the Empower Product Support Web site.

If you are installing the Adapter Development Kit on an existing Integration Server, shut down the Integration Server. Start the Installer wizard.

Choose the webMethods release that includes the Integration Server on which to install the Adapter Development Kit. For example, if you want to install the Adapter Development Kit on Integration Server 7.1, choose the 7.1 release. If you are installing on an existing Integration Server, specify the webMethods installation directory that contains the host Integration Server. If you are installing both the host Integration Server and the Adapter Development Kit, specify the installation directory to use. The Installer will install the components of the Adapter Development Kit in the Integration Server_directory as follows: Component webMethods Adapter Development Kit Users Guide Adapter Development Kit API Reference (Javadocs) Sample Adapter (WmSampleAdapter package) and Sample Server for use with the Sample Adapter. Location Integration Server_directory\doc\adk directory Integration Server_directory\doc\api\ad k directory Integration Server_directory\packages directory

In the product selection list, select Adapters > webMethods Adapter Development Kit 6.5.

After installation is complete, start the host Integration Server.

Upgrading to Adapter Development Kit 6.5

You can upgrade to Adapter Development Kit 6.5 fromAdapter Development Kit 6.0.1 or 6.1. Simply install Adapter Development Kit 6.5 over the existing installation using the instructions in Installing Adapter Development Kit 6.5 on page 3. Important! Upgrading removes all installed Adapter Development Kit 6.0.1 or 6.1 components. You will not be able to restore the earlier version.

Uninstalling Adapter Development Kit 6.5

The instructions in this section are meant to be used with the uninstallation instructions in the Software AG Installation Guide. To uninstall Adapter Development Kit 6.5 1 2 Shut down the host Integration Server. You do not need to shut down any other webMethods products or applications that are running on your machine. The Software AG Uninstaller will not delete any user-defined Adapter Development Kit components such as connections, adapter services, or adapter notifications. Because these components will not work without the adapter, delete them manually using Developer, Designer, or Integration Server Administrator. Start the Uninstaller, selecting the webMethods installation directory that contains the host Integration Server. In the product selection list, select Adapters > webMethods Adapter Development Kit. Restart the host Integration Server. The Uninstaller removes all Adapter Development Kit 6.5 related files that were installed into the Integration Server installation directory. However, the Uninstaller will not delete the Integration Server_directory\packages\WmSampleAdapter directory if you added any files to it. You can delete this directory manually.
