Toddler & Preschool Curriculum Lesson 10 (Unit 2) We Worship God Together

To the Teacher: Begin your planning and preparation with prayer. A letter has been provided for you to send home with the children to share with their parents what is happening in Sunday school, and for review. Arrive early to set things up, relax, breathe, take a moment in prayer, and be present when parents arrive with their children. Scripture Reading in Preparation: But as for me, I will enter Your
house through the abundance of Your steadfast love and mercy; I will worship toward and at Your holy temple in reverent fear and awe of You. Psalm 5: 7; Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His wondrous works and devoutly praise them! 1 Chronicles 16: 9; I will sing a new song to You, O God; upon a harp, an instrument of ten strings, will I offer praises to You. Psalm 144: 9

Memory Verse: Sing a song to God. (Simplified from Psalm 144:9a) Materials needed: Popsicle sticks (5 per child), glue, black construction paper (1 per child), a picture of childs family

Schedule & Lesson Free time (10 minutes) Greet parents with a smile and welcome their child by greeting. Make parents feel assured to leave their child in the Toddler/Preschool room. Make sure all toys are sanitized weekly and ready to play with. You may want to set out some dolls (both gender) if possible. Prayer & Snack (10 minutes) Kids should wash their hands and sit down at the table. They should drink from a small cup, and use a napkin. Pray a simple short pray before eating. Establish this so they learn good habits and manners. Music (5 minutes) We Worship God We Worship God (Tune: God Loves Me) Lets go to church, (Make a steeple putting hands over head to a point) Lets go to church, Lets go to church, God is always there! We worship God, We worship God, We worship God, God is always there!
(Hands upward swaying back and forth in praise)

Lesson Time (5-10 minutes) Use good expression for the kids and make it exciting. Change your voice to be "Female Puppet" and try not to move your mouth as she talks. Teacher: We go to church to worship God. At church we hear stories about God. We hear many good stories about Gods love for us. When we go to church, we sing songs of praise to God. He loves to hear our voices as we sing songs of praise to Him. We listen to the pastor read from the Bible (Show a bible and allow the kids to touch it). We treat our Bible with love. We touch it gently and open it carefully (Show the children how you do this). This is Gods Word to us. We call it the Bible. Do you have a Bible? Families can go to church together and worship God. You can bring your mom, your dad, or other family members. They will enjoy church and learning about God who loves them. God loves your family all of them. He will take care of you and protect you! Church is a wonderful place to come and worship God.

Teacher: Mary, would you like to come to church with me? Puppet: What do you do at church? Teacher: We worship God. Puppet: What does that mean? Teacher: We sing praise songs, read the bible, and hear lots of good stories. Puppet: I will think about it. Teacher: Thats great! We have Friend Sunday this week. Puppet: What is that? Teacher: It is when you ask your best friend to go to church with you. Puppet: Ok, am I your friend?

Teacher: Yes, you are my best friend. Puppet: That is nice. Then, I will go to church with you. Teacher: Great! We have a wonderful time. And we get a snack, too! Puppet: Yummy! I sure will come! See you later. Teacher: Bye for now! (Put puppets away out of sight) Music: Lets sing out song again. We Worship God (Tune: Three Blind Mice) Lets go to church, (Make a steeple putting hands over head to a point) Lets go to church, Lets go to church, God is always there! We worship God, We worship God, We worship God, Lets go to church!
(Hands upward swaying back and forth in praise)

Church Craft (10 minutes) Using the Popsicle sticks make the shape of a church and glue to black construction paper. Paste a picture of the family inside the church.

Scripture Poetry (Based on Psalm 144:9) I go to church to worship God, (point to God) We sing so many songs, (outstretch arms)

And pray and read Gods Word

(fold hands in prayer, hold hands like a book)

Oh, how I love His so! (Cross hands over heart)
