We started off with roasted beets with goat cheese, oranges and pine nuts. Even though the idea of voluntarily eating beetroot was slightly unpalatable, the thought of the cheese mousse won us over. It was so good that we stopped our conversation midway just to enjoy every flavour in our mouth. With their steamed buns and hoisin glazed BBQ pork, we could hardly wait for the main course. The combination of the tenderly cooked

For the main course, their tenderloin was served with the most delicious potato croquets. Seasoned majestically, the steak was well cooked and proverbially melted in the mouth. The dollop of cream was simply divine and the perfect icing on the dish. A touch they carried forward in their Beet risotto as well, making the whole experience unforgettable. And now, for the dessert. Even though weve gushed a lot about the rest of their menu, it would be simply criminal not to recommend their chocolate tart. The spoon cut into the tart without any hesitation and carved out its

More pleasure than pain

t Le Pain Quotidien, if youre worried about being scorned at by a waiter for struggling with the pronunciations, then your fears are baseless (not only because the bakery isnt French, its Belgian). But also, because they allow the food to do all the talking. The same can be said about the decor - minimalistic and warm, and a chef who really knows how to work his magic on your tastebuds. Their Asparagus and green bean salad is a nice start to the meal, with every caper making its presence felt and the visual of roasted garlic cloves getting you to think of fresh farms. Rivalling it in taste and freshness is the Asian salad, with its oh-so-tender tofu and sesame dressing. A second course of tartines, one topped with Grilled asparagus, ricotta, parmesan and diced tomatoes and the other with Roast tenderloin on a bed of caramelised onions, is nothing short of a treat. To put in perspective, the tenderloin could make even vegetarians drool. Their Red risotto poses a culinary conundrum as its smooth creamy sauce, sprinkled with beet and parmesan shavings, blends beautifully with the coarse and wholesome grains beneath. Soft, pastry folds stuffed with ricotta cheese and mushrooms make for a sumptuous lasagne too. As we bit into a very rich Apple crumble oozing with goodies from its generously buttered crust, we definitely saw ourselves coming back for more.

the table is set

ucked cosily in an old colonial building behind The Taj, The Table has quite a few things going for it. The ambience borrows much from its high-priced location and the regulars are people you might just bump into at The Bombay Gymkhana. Still the most winning aspect of the place, thankfully enough, is the delicacies that come out of its kitchen as promptly as fast food.

pork and the softness of the freshly baked buns was quite outstanding. The delicious barbeque sauce complemented the pork magnificently, without overpowering the taste of the buns. Their shrimp dumplings in spicy ginger broth were your typical by-thebook steamed dumplings. Steamed to perfection, this is a must try for all momo lovers.

gooey insides with relish. It was just as heavenly to taste. Imagine the most sinful thing and multiply it with ten. As The Table changes its menu every day depending on the freshest ingredients that they get, we just hope our favourites dont get left out, the next time we go.
