REVIEW AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

TO BRAINS REVIEWEES Welcome to BRAINS! Starting May 12, we embark on a common journey towards your successful shot at the Chemistry Board Examinations on September 18 & 19 this year. We want you to put your best foot forward and be the most prepared, best-conditioned examinees of the batch. Here are the important things to remember and prepare: FOR THE REVIEW BRAINS ChemBoards Review is a review and training program. In addition to the finest teachers and most intensive coverage, you actually undergo training to increase your preparedness for even the most difficult exam circumstances. This training includes content (hence the daily exams and problem sets) and form (preparing for the stressful testing environment, and the demanding professional environment youll enter when you pass the Boards). 1. Please prepare yellow pads to use in your problem sets and exams. You may use ballpens to write your solutions but we recommend training yourself to use the pencil as soon as possible. To our students from the provinces, please bring your books and old notes. You need to read the books, and the old notes can come in handy. To be what you want to be, think and feel like you already are. To build and maintain a professional feel in our classes, which help you gain confidence for the Board exams (and later for your job interview), we require you to wear CLOSED SHOES to class. For training purposes, you might want to use the shoes you plan to wear during the Board exams (really, their feel will remind you of what you heard during the lectures). Otherwise, any pair of comfortable, closed shoes will do. Slippers (cute or otherwise), slip-ons, step-ins, wooden shoes and the like are NOT allowed to be worn in class. You can be refused admission to your class if you come in these. If you have a disability or health problem that may be negatively affected by the shoes requirement, please let us know of the condition soonest. 4. We dont have a dress code apart from the shoes. However, we caution against jewelry and revealing clothes, as these can attract the attention of 1

ill-intentioned people. To our students from the provinces, please dont bring your jewelry to Manila. Do bring a watch, however, to time yourself during exams. Please have a jacket ready for the rainy season as the classrooms can get very cold by then. 5. Regarding cellphones: You are required to keep them in silent mode during classes. Also, they cannot be used as calculators during exams. Video and/or voice recording of lectures is strictly prohibited during classes. Gadgets used for this purpose will be confiscated.

FOR THE BOARD SIMULATION 1. The Pre-review Board Simulation will be held on May 12 and 13 from 7 AM to 5 PM at your respective venues. Sections B and B2*(for the simulation exam only): 2nd Floor, Doa Amparo Bldg., Espaa cor. G.M. Tolentino Sts. Manila Tel 736-1707 (See map) Sections A1, A2, and E 3rd Floor Orcel II Bldg., 1611 Quezon Avenue (near EDSA), Quezon City (See map). * Note for Section B2: Regular review classes will be at BRAINS-Quezon Avenue. Only the simulation will be held at Espaa. 2. Please confirm your slot reservations by paying your balance on or before May 12. Unpaid slots may be released to waitlisted students. Things to bring to the Board Simulation: A. School ID or any valid ID with picture. B. Yellow card with receipt (for those who have been issued these) or Deposit Slip and Client Number C. At least 2 pcs Number 2 Mongol pencil (must be sharpened) D. Clean white eraser (Staedtler or similar technical eraser brand) E. At least 1 non-programmable calculator (see list of allowed models in a separate file; cellphones not allowed) F. 2 pcs 1x1 ID picture, (if you have not submitted these) G. 1 black-inked ballpen H. Non-crackling, non-smelly snacks and bottled water I. Packed lunch or lunch money J. Watch

Attire: clean, decent clothes, and closed shoes. Slippers and step-ins are not allowed to be worn during the review as these could be disallowed in the actual exam. FOR THE ACTUAL BOARD EXAM, you will be asked to wear tucked-in white polo shirts or T-shirts with collar (male) or white blouses or t-shirts with collar (female). For students from the provinces, please bring 2 sets of these with you or make provisions with your allowance.

FOR SUBMISSION TO THE PRC It is best to prepare the following documents beforehand. If NSO doesnt have a copy of your birth certificate, please consult the local civil registrar where you were born for the proper procedure in these cases. If your personal details (name, date of birth, gender) in the birth certificate and your transcript of records or person (male / female) do not match, you must see the same local civil registrar to have them corrected via standard NSO procedures. This takes time, so you must have it done ASAP. You will not be allowed to take the Boards if there are discrepancies in your records. 1. 2. 3. Also bring a photocopy of approval sheet to avoid delays when processing your requirements. 4 pcs passport-sized ID PICTURES with complete nametag and white background (to be taken close to the deadline so your picture looks like you) Current community tax certificate (cedula) Metered documentary stamps (paid for at PRC) Application fee of P900

UPDATED LIST OF NON-PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATORS ALLOWED TO BE USED IN LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS The Commission issued Memorandum Circular No. 2004-06 dated March 4, 2004 listing the brands and models of non-programmable calculators that are allowed to be used in licensure examinations. It has been observed during the conduct of examinations that there are still other brands and models that are non-programmable that are not included in the list of those allowed to be used. In order to properly guide the examinees and examination personnel, the following is the Updated List of Non-Programmable Calculators that shall be allowed to be used in the examinations after verifications with the distributors and identification of knowledgeable persons.
