Definition of OD intervention an OD intervention are set of structured activities in which selected organization units engage in a sequence of tasks that

will lead to organizational improvement. Interventions are actions taken to produce the desired changes. Characteristics of OD intervention 1. First OD intervention focus on the organizational process 2. Second OD intervention focus on a work team as the unit of analysis and change towards effective behaviour. 3. Third OD intervention view change as an on-going process and would rely on a collaborative management of work culture Conditions which give rise to OD intervention 1. That is used to identify problem and opportunities. Groups analyze the data regarding their performance and design action plan to correct the problem. Process Consultation : Activities which help the client to perceive, understand and act upon the process which occur in its organization. The process consultant meets the members of the department and work teams. He observes their interaction, problem identification skills, solving procedures etc. He gives feedback on the basis of information collected through observations, He coaches and counsels client to help molding their behavior. Goal setting and planning : Activities which uses theory & experience in planning & goal setting, problem solving model etc. Each division in an organization sets formulates the plans for profitability. These goals are sent to the top management which in turn sends them back to the divisions after modification. A set of organization goals thus emerge there after.
