1. What is your inquiry question? What are the effects of cyber bullying through Twitter? 2. What is your primary purpose? To explore: How many people are victims of cyber bullying? Why do certain people get chosen as victims of cyber bullying? Is there a certain age group that cyber bullying is concentrated in? Who are the cyber bullies? Are there any cyber bully enablers? Does any one/group/organization encourage cyber bullying? When did cyber bullying reach its peak, or has it reached one? Why has cyber bullying increased within the current generation? Has cyber bullying been an issue since the beginning of social networking sites? How many cases of cyber bullying on Twitter have resulted in justice for the victims? What are the long term effects of cyber bullying? What percentage of cyber bullying cases have resulted in suicide? Are there any laws against cyber bullying? What are the consequences, if any of cyber bullying? To argue: Why is there not a sever consequence for cyber bullying? Are there programs to help victims of cyber bullying? Why are cases of cyber bullying overlooked? Isnt cyber bullying harassment? If so, why are the bullies not criminally charged? What extent of emotional or psychological damage can be caused by cyber bullying? How many organizations, such as the It Gets Better Project on MTV for the fair treatment of the LBGT community are involved in cyber bullying prevention? Are there any organizations that ore funding for more privacy on social networking sites? 3. Prior beliefs/assumptions/biases/etc: I am under the impression that cyber bullying is something that only gained attention when victims began committing suicide. I feel that this is unfair because syberbullying is no different than playground bullying. As technology and society transitions into newer eras, I feel that this issue will only worsen. Before I began in depth research about this, I had already heard of stories of cyber bullying; reading more of them has certainly engaged me even more than I already was. 4. Working Knowledge:

Cyberbullying is defined as the harassment of an individual through social media. Apparently, this has been a huge issue since I was in late elementary school and yet emphasis was not placed on it until I reached high school. America is one of the top countries with extreme records of cyber bullying. More than a few cases of cyber bullying have resulted in suicide of the victim. I googled cases of cyber bullying through Twitter, and the most recent, documented case was that of 14 year old Amber Cole. In cases like this one, people have tried justifying cyber bullying in saying that the victim deserved it or brought it on themselves. 5. Primary Research: I plan to do as much online research as possible , followed by interviews of personal friends that have experienced cyber bullying, on both ends of the spectrum. I would also like to speak with a counselor, possibly on campus about the issue at hand.
