La literatura de Rudyard Kipling trasladada a la aula de ESO INTRODUCCIN La literatura es uno de los temas ms abandonados y trabajados de soslayo en el aula

de lenguas. La lectura de libros suele ser relegada a menudo a una tarea para casa, sin ninguna otra repercusin ms que un examen de control de lectura o un trabajo sobre unas cuestiones de comprensin que se realizan en casa y se presentan posteriormente. La presente mini-unidad didctica pretende acercar la literatura al alumno usando para ello como recurso un cuento de los que el escritor britnico escribi en y sobre su amada India. Esta forma de ver la lengua presenta un gran atractivo para el alumnado reacio al tpico trabajo sobre el libro de texto, a la vez que sirve como un acercamiento hacia valores como la tolerancia y el respeto que se muestran en la historia. A su vez nos permite ahondar en cuestiones como la apreciacin de los cuentos o historias cortas como transmisor de enseanzas y distraccin para nios y no tan nios.

OBJETIVOS 1. Promover el placer por la lectura de libros en lenguas distintas a la suya para que los alumn@s sepan reconocer y comprendan que las lenguas sirven como vehculo de transmisin de historias, inquietudes, etc. 2. Fomentar que los alumnos aprendan a reconocer y apreciar otras formas de entender la vida en distintas culturas, tal y como se puede plasmar en un libro. 3. Fomentar el respeto mutuo y el respeto entre todos los alumnos ms all de lengua, religin, raza o creencias. 4. Provocar el inters por conocer a las personas que nos rodean, sus costumbres, valores y riqueza lingstica; as como sus tradiciones literarias. 5. Avivar el placer por la lectura como entretenimiento y facilitador del desarrollo integral entre los alumn@s.

CONTENIDOS CONCEPTOS La literatura britnica del s.XIX representada por Rudyard Kipling. La amistad: la camaredera. El mundo animal: vocabulario bsico en ingls: diferentes nombres de animales. Desarrollo de habilidades cognitivas y metacognitivas: scanning, skimming, guessing,... Caracterizacin de personajes a travs de las cualidades asociadas a los animales que los personifican. Presentacin en powerpoint sobre el escritor Rudyard Kipling y realizacin de la ficha sobre esta misma documentacin. Visita del aula de informtica: bsqueda de informacin sobre Kipling y su poca en: www.google.es y en www.bbc.co.uk Lectura del texto adaptado The Jungle Book y realizacin de la ficha sobre el mismo. o Qu nos evoca el ttulo del libro? o Perfil de los principales personajes. Visionado por partes de la pelcula de Walt Disney sobre el libro original completo de Rudyard Kipling y realizacin de la ficha sobre ste. o Presentacin de Mowgli: nio criado por lobos o Qu personajes aparecen y qu actitud tienen hacia Mowgli?y l es aqu lo diferente, una amenaza? Por qu? o Te imaginas a ti en esa situacin? Puesta en comn de las actividades y posterior correccin.

PROCEDIMIENTOS

ACTITUDES

Fomentar el placer de la lectura. Despertar el inters por las diversas lenguas que se hablan en el mundo, en especial, el ingls- lengua franca en la actualidad. Valorar la existencia de diferentes culturas y sociedades como un elemento enriquecedor. Fomentar la curiosidad hacia el conocimiento de otras culturas.

METODOLOGA Considerando que el aprendizaje ha de ser tan prctico como sea posible y motivador para que el/la alumno/a asimile los conocimientos de forma significativa, desarrollaremos el acercamiento a la obra de Rudyard Kipling partiendo de las experiencias e intereses de los alumnos. Probablemente, habrn oido hablar de esta obra alguna vez o habrn oido en alguna ocasin la expresin pltano Balooutilizada por sus abuelas. As pues, trataremos de potenciar el aprendizaje significativo a travs del uso de tcnicas deductivas , primando pues los conocimientos procedimentales que sern la base de la asimilacin de conceptos y valores. El profesor ser quien gue la realizacin de la actividad para que sea el propio alumno quien construya su aprendizaje en cuanto a los conceptos, procedimientos y actitudes que pretendemos fomentar. RECURSOS Y MATERIALES Televisor y reproductor de DVD. Ordenador (en el aula de informtica del centro). Proyector ( de presentaciones multimedia o ,de no ser posible, proyector de transparencias). Dossier de trabajo. Diccionarios bilinges o monolinges (segn el nivel de competencias de los alumnos).

NIVEL La actividad se programa para abarcar parte del bloque de literatura y cultura del rea de lengua extranjera, ingls. Va dirigida a la Educacin Secundaria Obligatoria ( primer y segundo ciclo de ESO). Tambin podra dirigirse a otros niveles superiores, pero adaptando los contenidos. SECUENCIACIN Y TEMPORIZACIN 4 sesiones (ampliable a una sesin ltima ms en caso necesario): - 1 Sesin : Warm-up (presentacin sobre Rudyard Kipling, visita al aula de Informtica). Realizacin Warm-up activities

- 2 Sesin: Lectura de la adaptacin de la historia, primera parte del visionado de la pelcula y realizacin del dossier introductorio. - 3 Sesin: Visionado final de la pelcula y realizacin de actividades postreading. - 4 Sesin: finalizacin del dossier e intercambio de redacciones entre alumnos; atendiendo al nivel de competencias de los alumnos se puede tambin generas un intercambio oral de opiniones sobre la historia o los personajes. CRITERIOS DE EVALUACIN Se tomarn como criterios de evaluacin: o la realizacin del dossier de actividades (60 %) o la participacin en clase (preguntas, redaccin, presentacin... ) (20%) o la actitud reflejada durante el desarrollo de la actividad (20%) La evaluacin ser contnua, desarrollndose a lo largo de toda la mini-unidad didctica.
