EDELMAN APPOINTS LISA MANLEY, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHICAGO


Manley will lead Chicagos Business + Social Purpose practice
May 2, 2012, CHICAGO, Edelman, the worlds largest public relations firm, has named Lisa Manley executive vice president, Business + Social Purpose, in its Chicago office. In her new role, Manley will oversee the Business + Social Purpose practice in Chicago and provide counsel to the firms clients in Chicago and throughout the global network. She will report to Kevin Cook, managing director, Chicago, starting May 15. Lisa will be instrumental in helping the firm provide a deeper spectrum of consulting, communication, social purpose marketing and content development services to our clients, said Cook. These services are critical particularly as stakeholders demand greater societal and environmental leadership from both business and government. Manley joins Edelman from Coca-Cola, where she was responsible for its global corporate social responsibility and sustainability strategy, as well as communications and marketing initiatives focused on water, health and wellness, climate protection, sustainable agriculture, packaging and womens issues. She was instrumental in the development of the companys leadership position on water and oversaw corporate sustainability reporting, including the development of the companys first GRI report. Bringing social and environmental issues into business, in a relevant and authentic way adds energy and a reason for being beyond profits, said Carol Cone, global practice chair, Business + Social Purpose. Having Lisa on the team will be an enormous asset to help clients crystallize, integrate and activate their commitments to CSR, sustainability, and citizenship throughout their operations and their brands. Prior to working at Coca-Cola, Manley served as vice president and group director for Widmeyer Communications in Washington, D.C., and spent time in the academic community working for the University of the South and Georgetown University on various student and alumni initiatives. She received a masters in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. Edelman has a history of independent thinking and a respect for the role trust and sustainability play in inspiring consumer and business interests, said Manley.
