February 2012 Re: Letter of Recommendation for Lisa Myers To whom it may concern: It is my pleasure to write this letter

for Lisa Myers, who was an undergraduate student in two of my classes at Drake University Curriculum & Pedagogy and Elementary Social Studies Methods. Therefore, I have had many opportunities to speak with her about her educational experiences, her career goals as a teacher, and her thirst for knowledge. She will be a wonderful, successful teacher! As her advisor, professor and mentor, I have clearly recognized her skills and attributes. They include: Personal attributes: Lisa is a dependable, trustworthy, and motivating. She sees the bright side of a situation and remains positive in her interactions with her peers, teachers, kids, and parents. She is a patient and caring teacher. She is careful to see the needs and issues of others, but makes up her own mind through thoughtful reflection. She displays confidence in her academic and professional responsibilities. Lisa is trustworthy, dependable, enthusiastic, and professional in her interactions. She was an absolute JOY to have in class. Her ability to make connections and to reflect on past experiences is phenomenal. She has a global citizenship focus as a learner and is highly capable of helping children become participatory citizens as well. Professional attributes: It goes without saying, she can prepare interesting, engaging lessons for students-week after week over time. She is an organized, creative person as evidenced through her Junior Achievement lessons, weekly plans, projects, and units in Pedagogy and Social Studies Methods. She demonstrated expertise in childrens literature and in development of interdisciplinary units of study. For example, her project on teaching US states was very creative. Importantly, she has a well-developed classroom management plan with routines and procedures to keep kids focused in a successful learning environment. Her previous teaching experiences have prepared her for future teaching endeavors. Feedback from her practicum teachers is excellent! I highly recommend Lisa for any elementary teaching position, especially where she can use her reading endorsement and Spanish concentration. While she has had both urban and suburban teaching experiences, she will be a success anywhere. She will be not only a fabulous, caring teacher but she will be a thoughtful and collaborative faculty member. Contact me if you need further information on this worthy candidate. Sincerely,

Sally R. Beisser
