EastPort UK, Great Yarmouth

With a new deep-water outer harbour and modern river port, EastPort UK offers wind farm developers and tier 1 & 2 companies a host of manufacturing opportunities. There is significant quay space, ample land for construction, modern facilities and unfettered access to the sea. Furthermore, the newly completed site has permitted development rights and is available now. With more than 40 years of experience supporting the North Sea gas business and a regional energy supply chain of more than 400 companies, EastPort UK is an ideal manufacturing and construction base. Privately owned and operated, its new owners have a flexible approach and see offshore wind as a natural fit for the future. It is Englands principal support port for offshore energy in the Southern North Sea and the closest deep-water harbour to the East Anglia Array wind farm project and the continent. As the base for the Scroby Sands wind farm development, the port has proven experience in safely handling wind farm components, and remains the operations and maintenance base for the site. And since becoming operational in February 2010, the newly constructed deep-water outer harbour has hosted vessels working on Greater Gabbard, Thanet and Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farms. Bathside Bay, Harwich

A major investment opportunity has been recognised at Harwich Bathside Bay. Building on its formidable experience in the offshore renewable sector, Harwich International Port is bringing forward a major new port development at Bathside Bay. Detailed planning applications are being sought to amend existing consents for the development, with habitat mitigation measures and harbour orders already agreed. No other UK port has consent to expand on this scale and the ability to be operational by 2014/15. The redevelopment of Bathside Bay offers a multifunctional manufacturing and assembly site which could be capable of supporting multiple large-scale facilities, as well as providing a prime installation base. It is ideally located to serve the UKs Round 3 projects, as well as future developments off the German, Dutch and Belgian coasts and the port is already heavily engaged on the development of Round 1 & 2 wind farms. The development will increase the ports depth for access to 15m below LAT (lowest astronomical tide) and provide 1,400m of extra quay for heavy loadings. It has no air draft restrictions and is one of the UKs best naturally protected harbours. The port boasts regular ferry services to the continent, rail connection from the port to London and east and west coast mainlines. Stansted Airport is less than an hour by road.
