HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Abstract This campaign explains the concept of health and safety in establishing health and safety among pupils and parents. This programme is introduce to explain the method and proper procedures including exposure among pupils, parents and teachers. Those who are involved in school environment , play important roles to make it successful for the sake of the pupils in the aspect of physical, development, student activities, disaster social and the location of school. The aspects of health and safety are important and drastic improvement should be taken as everybody has their responsibilities. There are varieties of ways to implement school safety. The first step to expose the level of understanding, providing correct implementation and procedures according to daily life. It is a norm of life.

ASSIGNMENT 1 for Workplace English (English for Educators) September 2011 Semester

Group Assignment for Workplace English (English for Educators) Your school has instructed you and four other school staff to come out with a campaign on health and safety awareness among the students and parents for a week. Before the one-week campaign begins, the school would require that parents also take part in the event. Therefore, you are directed by the school to invite parents on a particular weekend to attend a talk about the campaign. The main objective of the talk is to encourage parents, apart from the students, to be proactively involved in creating a healthy and safe learning environment for the students in the school area. As the school staff, you and the rest of the team should organize the talk as well as the one-week campaign. 1. For this class assignment, you must work in a group of five. You need to either.. i. present the talk on health and safety awareness issues for the parents. Coordinate and deliver the talk effectively. Create the scenario and situation for this event. In conducting the presentation, you should: use power points provide illustrations, if necessary ensure a smooth flow in your presentation (introduction, contents, conclusion) include a Question and Answer session

ii. come out with a mock meeting to discuss and plan on how to manage the one-week campaign.

2. Everyone in your team should have a certain task to organize the event. Assign tasks appropriately among the five of you. 3. 20% is allocated for this presentation.

4. The length of the presentation is 15-20 minutes. 5. Present this in the last week before your final examination.

2. I am going to handle the activity on the second day.

3. One of the activity planned is a Talk on Juvenile Crime by the Police Crime Department Inspector, Sarjan Hamdan Bin Salleh and he has confirmed to come.

4. The talk is revolved around drugs, illegal race, bullying, pick pocket and related topics involving juvenile.

5. The objective of the talk is to invite awareness to parents and pupils on the social problem that we have to over come. 6. Other than that, a video presentation on canning punishment will be shown to the audience on that day. 7. For your information, I will need a LCD projector on that day.

Anilah: Good morning everyone. The purpose of this meeting is to hear the final feedback from the teachers in-charge of each section of the campaign. To start off, I, myself, am in-charge of Day 1. Registration will start at 7.30 -8.00. There will be three booths for registration. Pn. Ziyana , who is the secretary of campaign will print out the registration forms and the forms will be given to Pn. Nur Farhana who is in-charge of registration. At 8 am there will be a briefing on the campaign tentative for the whole week. Parents will be explained of the objectives of the campaign. At 10am, we will have our brunch. Then, from 10.30- 12.30, there will be a talk on Balance Meal. This talk will be given by Cik Rosnah Ali, a dietition from Batu Pahat District Hospital. Sha has confirmed to come. So, thats about it on Day 1. Any questions ladies? Now, I would like to invite Pn. Jamaah. Lets us hear the updates on Day 2. Pn. Jamaah presents her script. Anilah: Thank you, Pn. Jamaah. Thank you Chairperson I will explain the third day activity The school has sent a letter to the fire station nearby, asking for a fire squad to demonstrate on how to put out a fire and displaying all the tools that are used to put out fire in a fire engine. The fireman who will be in charged on that day is En.Halim b. Abd.Rahman. He has agreed to join in our schools program. He has asked me to prepare a vacant and large place to that will be used to demonstrate a fire drill. This program will involve everyone at school. I have divided the pupils into two groups, group1 and group 2. The group will be conducted on a rotation basis. The activity will begin at 8.00 until 10.00 a.m. At 10.00 until 10.30 they will go for recess. At 10.30 until 12.30 there will be a talk on The Safety mainly on how to put out or prevent fire. This talk will be given by En. Shukri b.Ahmad from the Fire Prevention Department. That is all for now. Thank you.

1. The fifth day is on 16th October 2011. 2. The activities for day five are exhibition , quiz., prize giving and closing ceremony.. 3. The activity for day five will begin with exhibition from 8.00 a.m. until 10.00 a.m. 4. The theme for health exhibition is GOOD ENVIRONMENT, GOOD HEALTH AND GOOD LIVING. 5. The exhibition and quiz will be managed by four teachers and led by En Ishak bin Harun. 6. I have asked the Health Department to hold up an exhibition and they have agreed. 7. Questions for the quiz are based on the all topics in the campaign and information found in the exhibition. 8. There are 15 questions to be answered by student and 15 questions for parents. The answer sheets will be provided. 9. En Ishak bin Harun and three other teachers will be involved to carry out the quiz. 10. The prizes will be provided for the quiz competition winners. 11. We provide prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd placing and seven more consolation prizes. 12. We also provide certificate to winners and participants. 13. We already purchase all the prizes and certificates for the winners. 14. All receipt of purchase will be given to the treasurer. 15. The chairman of the PTA will give out the prizes to the winners of the quiz.. 16. Our Headmistress, Pn Rohana Ismail will officially close The Health and Safety Awareness Campaign.

A very good morning to all. I am in-charge of Day 4. On day 4 , there will be a Talk on Dengue As we all know that dengue is very dangerous and hope that this campaign will aware the parents and pupils. We start the day from 8.00 until 10.00 o' clock . For your information, we have invited Dr. Ridhwan a Health Officer from Batu Pahat District Hospital. He will give a talk on dengue. So if you want to ask him about dengue, you can do so. The next programme is gotong- royong. We will start gotong-royong from 10.30 am until 12.30 noon. Parents will be divided into smaller groups and these groups will be in charge at certain area. I have listed out the areas that should be cleaned. Tools such as sickle, rake, wheelbarrow, hoe and . spade will be provided by the school. Parents will be notified earlier about the gotong royong so that they will wear suitable attire. I really hope the many parents will involve in this gotong royong. Drinks will be provided .
