AP Psychology Theorist Paper Mark Park Hour 6 Carl was a physically attractive and husky 15 year-old boy.

He had several events in his life that proved to be damaging. For example, his father was a heavy drinker as well as frequently abused his family and Carl. According to Bandura as well as Skinner, Carl's behavior can be attributed to several personality traits as well as the environment he/she has lived through. The first is that because of the presence of alcohol in his household, Carl was described to have had drunk as well smoking cigarettes. The second trait is that he likes to "embarrass" his stepfather due to the fact that Carl did not like his biological father. The third trait is that although he was toilet trained, he involuntarily voids urine during times of stress. The first personality trait that Carl showed was that he had experience with drinking alcohol as well as smoke cigarettes. According to Bandura's theory, the personality trait is dependent on environmental factors that inhabit Carl's life. For instance, there was evidence alcohol in his household during the times when his biological father was living with him. Because of the presence of such materials, Carl might have been influenced by negative reinforcement as well as getting continuous reinforcement because the alcohol might have been present many times in Carls life. This means means that he drinks/smokes in order to remove some sort of aversive stimulus he might have received during his continued childhood. Carl often times enjoys embarrassing his stepfather George by getting in trouble in the community. Before he had a stepfather, Carl often tried to protect his mother and his two older brothers from his biological father, who was abusive and tried to rape his mother. By trying to embarrass his stepfather, Carl might be attaining positive reinforcement and gaining a satisfying feeling. Because of the pains and troubles his biological father had given him, Carl might be tempted to inflict pain on his stepfather or any father-like figure in order to obtain revenge and his own positive reinforcement. Carl can overcome his personality troubles in many ways. First, he should try talking more

about his problems and issues to people he feels comfortable around, such as his mother. Also, his stepfather, George, should try to engage with his Carl and try to show him that a having a father can also be a good thing. In addition, he should be in more activities that deals with mathematics, which seems make him more comfortable and often times control his behavior.
