Spain Spanish food is not spicy!

! Chile peppers in Latin American countries make food tangy, but Spanish food is seldom hot. Maybe a little garlicky though. 1. Spain is the European country closest to Africa. In fact, the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla are the only European territories on the African continent. Mainland Spain is only 12 miles away from Ceuta. You can take a 35 minute ferry from Ageciras on the southern coast of Spain, to Ceuta. From there you can enter Morocco to visit cities like Tangiers, Casablanca and Fez. Peru The culture of Peru is dominated by Spanish and Indian American culture. The Peruvian cuisine and performing arts are based on these traditions; however, the arts and crafts have its roots in the Inca civilization. Peru is the largest producer in South America for gold, zinc, timber, iron ore and finest cotton. Potato, tomato and avocado is believed to have originated in Peru. Puerto Rico In 1493, the world famous explorer, Christopher Columbus, discovered the island. The original name given by Columbus was San Juan Bautista, named after Saint John, the Baptist. The climate in Puerto Rico is constant most of the year as it hardly shifts below or above 70F or 80F, respectively. However, since the island is prone to hurricanes, the weather can change drastically. The Puerto Rican culture is very complex, yet liberal. They greet one another with a kiss on the cheeks. In U.S., giving someone personal space is very important. On the contrary, in Puerto Rico, standing really close to another person while having a conversation is considered normal; in fact it is thought to be well-mannered. Their native music consists of salsa, plena, seis, bomba, reggaeton, and hip hop. Panama The Panama Canal, built by the United States after Panamas independence from Colombia in 1903, joins the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Panama has the most varieties of birds anywhere in the world. Panama City is among the top retirement locations in the world. Nicaragua The largest country in Central America, bounded by Honduras to the north, Costa Rica to the south, the Caribbean to its east, and the Pacific to its west, has a long history of political tumult but is rich in natural attractions. Mexico is responsible for introducing chocolate to the world! It was considered the drink of the gods by the early Aztec culture inhabitants

Mexico introduced chillies and corn to the world as well.
