Burying Bid'ah 2- Wiping the Face after Dua

Yazeed (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that whenever the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salim) made dua, he would raise his hands and wipe his face (afterwards).
Collected by Abu Dawud () Shaykh Al-Albani and Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbadd both graded this hadeeth as being weak.

At-Teebee (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "This hadeeth proves that the Prophet (sallahu Allahu alayhi wa salim) didnt raise his hands during dua and wipe his face. The Prophet used to frequently make dua. For instance during prayer and Tawwaf. Also at the conclusion of the prayer, at bedtime, and after eating; he didnt raise his hands and wipe his face at those times when supplicating to Allah. [Awnun Ma'bude] Some innovations have an origin from weak or fabricated hadeeth. Abu Dawud titled a chapter in his sunnan " Whenever the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salim) made dua he would raise his hands and wipe his face " Six common innovated practices related to raising the hands during dua today:
1- Wiping the face and chest after qunoot of witr

2- Wiping the chest and shoulders with the palms after dua. 3- Raising the hands while the imam makes dua during the Khutbah. 4- Kissing the thumbs and placing them over the eyes when the Prophet's (sallahu alayhi wa salim) name is mentioned at the Athan or other times. 5- Shaking or other types of movement with both hands when lifting them. 6- Raising the hands during dua between the Athan and Iqamah
