CITY SOLUTIONS eLIBRARY - Call for Papers

Leveraging the Urbanization Knowledge Platform technologies will enable cities to learn from and build on one anothers success, serving as a significant leap forward in fostering a truly global community of urban practice. Zoellick President, The World Bank This initiative seeks to combine the best available knowledge with practical wisdom on how urbanization can generate economic, social and environmental payoffs, supported by the government structures to deliver them. 1. Context The City Solutions e-Library, in conjunction with the World Banks Urbanization Knowledge Platform (UrbKP), is an outcome from the 2011 Mayors Forum facilitated by Professor Greg Clark at the 2011 Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) - an initiative of Brisbane City Council. The aim of this digital repository for urban policy is to maintain a dialogue between cities through the exchange of knowledge. The e-Library will host a range of policy areas across several disciplines from economic development through to environmental management and are seeking urban solutions from the following categories:

Cities & Economic Growth; Urban Land, Housing & Planning; City Management, Finance & Governance; Urban Environment, Climate Change & Disaster Management ; and Reducing Urban Poverty & Promoting Social Inclusion . It will aggregate existing case studies, urban policy, best practice reports, and other relevant papers to develop a comprehensive knowledge base. We invite you to learn and share innovative policies and programs from your own city. 2. Submission Criteria Cities interested in contributing to the e-Library are invited to review the criteria and follow the submission steps outlined below. The City Solution must have had:

Involvement with the city government, either through design, funding, collaboration or implementation; Urban policy issue which addresses a significant topic for global cities; Potential to be adopted elsewhere in the world by another city; Measurable success with demonstrated results; AND Relevance to and incorporates at least on of the classified areas of urban policy.
