No Touch Cells, Extended Backlight Life,

True overlapping objects
C-more eliminates the old touch cell architecture, which m divided the screen into squares like a piece of graph paper. Rigid restrictions applied, such as no overlapping objects and having to size objects to touch cell increments. With C-more, these restrictions go away because there are no m predefined touch cells. Now you can have overlapping objects, unlimited scaling of objects and analog slider switches. Fit more objects on the screen and place them anywhere you need. The slider switch senses your fingers movement across the screen to change a register value (not possible with predefined touch cells).

Long-life backlights and replaceable bulbs

Backlight bulb burnout is a common failure on a touch screen. C-more doubles the backlight bulb life on 6-inch and 8-inch m units (compared to our previous touch panels) to 50,000 hours. In addition, the 8, 10, 12 and 15-inch units have user replaceable 50,000 hour backlight bulbs (our Repair Center can replace the 6-inch backlight). These improvements increase product longevity dramatically.

Better Temperature Range and Brighter Screens!

Better performance over wider temperature range
m All C-more units are rated to perform properly from 0-50oC m (32-122oF). The photos below demonstrate that the C-more 8-inch screen maintains a more consistent color at lower temperatures, down to 0oC. C-more also has improved high end operating temperatures for m 6-, 8- and 15-inch sizes. This is extremely helpful when placing touch panels in warmer environments.

Better Displays, More Colors

Better looking displays
C-more offers TFT screens in all sizes. These TFT screens provide a crisper m picture and better readability compared to STN technology. For tighter budgets, STN displays are available on 6-inch units.

Our previous touch panels offered 128 colors on both the STN m and TFT screen models. C-more offers 256 colors on STN screens and 65,536 colors on TFT screens.

m You can truly see more detail with C-more. In the past, our highest resolution panel offered a 640 x 480 pixel screen. C-mores 12-inch unit offers a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. m m Need more? The C-more 15-inch unit sports 1024 x 768 pixels, 56% more than our previous 15-inch model. This means you can effectively place one and a half times as much information in the same 15 inch area. The screen on the left is our previous 15-inch display that has 640 x 480 pixels. This screen contains 48 pushbuttons that are 80 x 80 pixels each. The 15-inch C-more display on the right has 1024 x 768 resolution. You can literally put the screen on the left into the upper left hand corner of C-more and still have 56% more space to add more pushbuttons or other objects.

More memory for projects

C-more starts with a minimum of 10 MB of user project space. m Compare that to our last generation which starts at 256K memory. How about data storage? Our previous touch panels m offered none at all. With C-more, all full-featured models contain a built-in CompactFlash card slot and a USB Port-A connector. This allows up to 2 Gigabytes of memory for data logging. Need even more data logging memory? Add an expansion unit that can hold an additional off-the-shelf CompactFlash card for a total of 3 Gigabytes of data memory!

More Power Supply Options, Better Warranty!

Screw-on 110 VAC power supply for improved reliability
C-more comes with a built-in 24 VDC power supply with a m removable connector for easy installation. This is great for applications that have good clean 24 VDC power. However, there are many situations where the DC power in a cabinet does not meet required specifications for instrumentation. C-more offers an optional 110 VAC to 24 VDC screw-on m power supply that improves panel reliability. Since it is built m specifically for C-more, it offers power fault protection with sequential shut-down, and will set an error flag that can be configured with a time and date stamp to help troubleshoot a problem.

Power User for global changes Common sense editing tools

Use the common sense editing tools similar to those found in office environment presentation software packages - group, order, nudge, rotate, flip, font up/down, and undo all reduce configuration time. On the main configuration screen, click on View and select the Property List as an alternative, Power User object configuration/editing tool. Similar to Visual Basic, the property list dialog box allows power users to quickly configure or make C-more m changes to objects. Perfect for an array of similar objects, just copy one object several times and then use the property box to make a few changes. Select multiple objects and change all of them at once. Common properties of different types of objects can even be edited simultaneously, such as background or text color.

Better Fonts and Animation!

More built-in fonts
C-more has 14 different fonts for objects such as pushbuttons, m indicators, meters and so on. These fonts are used for objectm integrated labels and ON/OFF phrases for each of C-mores standard objects. Each font can be bolded, italicized and underlined. Fonts can be scaled to hundreds of sizes, giving you extreme flexibility. Need even more fonts? Use any of the dozens from your PC as Bitmap Text. (Although bitmap text cannot be used an an integral part of standard objects, they can be used for a wide variety of static annotations.)

Old Way

Built-in animation makes the process come to life

Virtually any bitmap object (from your PC hard drive, the builtin 4,000 symbol library, custom-drawn, etc.) can be animated to follow a straight line or a scribbled path. In addition, the object can change size or orientation (rotation).

Of course, the object can also do any combination of actions as well. Best of all, the animation process is very straightforward. You will be animating your first object in as little as a few minutes!

A bitmap object (picture of cardboard box follows a scribbled path along a conveyer (the path can be hidden). The box can rotate around the bends in the path and even change sizes. The object changes toward the end into a closed box shape.

Better Trends and More Control Options!

Improved trends, new PID faceplate, true historical data logging
C-mores trend graph supports 16 pens, selectable to be m hidden or shown by the operator. Show only the trends you wish to see, when you wish to see them. In addition, the full m featured C-more units support data logging to CompactFlash cards or USB memory devices. Up to 3 Gigabytes of trend data m can be stored. The information can also be sent from C-more m to your PC over the Internet, triggered by an event. C-more also has the standard PID faceplate and an enhanced version which shows trend data of the setpoint and process variable.

Pop-up windows for information and control

Use Pop-up Window Frames to overlay information or to provide extra controls on top of other screens. Operators can reposition the popup anywhere on the screen or close the pop-up when no longer required. Pop-up windows are created just like the other screens in the m project, and can include any of the C-more objects (except other Popups - no cascading available).

C-more provides a powerful, yet easy-to-use Event Manager which takes exception handling m (including alarms) and scheduling to the next level. The simple fill-in-the-blank manager allows events to automatically trigger several actions without the need for hours of PLC programming.

More flexible recipes save time
C-more provides tremendous flexibility and capacity to applicam tions that require recipes. It has a simple recipe button that supports 99 recipe sheets, each with 100 fields with 100 values m each. C-more recipes can be modified and saved on the fly by the operator while the machine is running. You can even build a pop-up window that uses several other C-more objects to create a powerful, graphic oriented recipe m object to scroll through all recipes, giving the operator a very simple means to select and change recipes.

This intuitive simulator will drastically reduce your project design time. The end result will be a better looking and more effective project completed in less time. The built-in simulator allows you to fully simulate your entire project (every object, every screen) while it is being developed, without being connected to a touch panel or PLC. Simply click on the Simulate Project button at any stage of project development. A window will appear over your development screen that contains a pixel-for pixel-representation of how your project will m appear on your physical C-more panel. A simulator control panel window will also appear. Now the fun begins. Simply click your mouse on any simulated screen object and it will behave as if your finger is actually m touching a C-more panel. For example, clicking on a pushbutton object will activate and deactivate it as if an operator were touching it! The same will be true for thumbwheels, slider switches (simply hold your mouse button down and slide), selector switches, toggle switches and so forth. Want to see an analog meter move that would be based on dynamic data from the PLC? Simply move your mouse to the Simulation editor screen of the simulator, move to the object and click on the data you wish to change. Now type in the value that you want to simulate, and watch your meter move on the simulated screen. And heres the really cool thing - whatever object(s) you modify during simulation, the effect will be propogated throughout your entire project, object by object, screen by screen. Thats because this is a true project simulator. To stop the the simulation, just click on your project development screen and youre back to project configuration. You can go back and forth in a flash. Its that easy!

The simulation editor shows the list of screens and the tags on the highlighted screen in the list.

For objects tied to analog data, change actual values here in the tag list, then verify the correct behavior on the screen. You can also change input data on the simulated screen and see the value change in the tag list.

User Libraries, and Project Migration

User libraries allow you to re-use your work again and again
C-more provides three user libraries that allow you to m efficiently re-use your work throughout your project or for other projects in the future. You can store a custom object, such as your company logo or a group of objects that comprise a custom object (see the tank with cut-away and bar graph below). You can also store entire screens and sound bites. You can access your libraries at any time and re-use your work by merely clicking on the saved item and dragging it from the library into your project. You can even import and export library items to share with other designers.

Overview
C-more is our new generation of operator interface m m touch panels. C-more is all new, including its electronics, touch screen displays, enclosures and all software and firmware. As a next generation m product line, C-more has a host of hardware improvements and software enhancements, and offers better data transfer and increased productivity m over our previous touch panel products. C-more is designed and manufactured by our parent company, Koyo Electronics, part of the multi-billion dollar Koyo Seiko group. m With the C-more series, AutomationDirect now provides the best combination of reliability, ease of use, and features at the lowest possible prices. With C-more, you can virtually replace almost all m mechanical pushbuttons, switches, meters, and other peripheral devices. The configuration software makes touchscreen panel setup and programming quick and simple, m and all C-more touch panels use the same programming package. Take advantage of advanced features such as the Event Manager and data logging. Now you can collect large amounts of data or play back long historical records on trend graphs. Plug in up to two compact flash cards (full feature panels only) or a USB memory device for up to a Gigabyte of data logging storage (thats about 250 million data points)! Another new tool is the built-in project simulator that allows you to view your project on the PC screen exactly as it would appear on the touch panel; and to test all your screens before downloading the project to the panel. You can simulate your entire project at any stage of development. m If you have an existing EZTouch* panel, C-more has the same mounting cutout so replacement installation is a breeze (replacement of wide bezel 6 units m requires adapter). m All C-more panels have been designed to fit in the same dimensional cutout as a similar sized m EZTouch panel*. In addition, C-more can convert and run existing EZTouch projects created with EZTouch Edit 3.1a sold by AutomationDirect. Just point, click and convert m EZTouch projects to C-more and you are ready to go. All your hard work is transferred. To replace an EZTouch: 1) Remove it from its mounting cutout. 2) Click on your existing EZTouch project in the C-more browser. It will be converted to a C-more project, which can be downloaded into the new C-more panel. 3) Now mount the new C-more into the old cutout (using adapter plate where required) and reconnect your existing cables. Its that simple!
