Good morning!

Iowa's June Democratic primary election is about selecting candidates who can win in the November general election. Who represents Democrats the best while being able to appeal to the largest voting block, the Independents. Sometime after the November 2006 election, I was contacted by Linn County Auditor Linda Langenberg and asked to run for County Auditor because she was going to resign and become the Deputy Secretary of State. On February 13, 2007, I ran against one Republican and four Independents in a six-way race and won. In June 2008, I had an opponent in the Democratic primary and won even though I was outspent about two to one. I was un-opposed in the November 2008 election and received 27K straight party Democratic votes and another 54K individual votes. For some reason 54K voters took the time to vote for me when I had no opponent. And for some reason, no Republican or Independent candidate chose to run against me. I have been accused by a few of not being Democratic enough. I thought the only party that conducted a litmus test was the Republican party, but some of our members think they have a right to determine who is and who is not Democratic enough. I say to those holier than thou members: This is not your Democratic party and this is not my Democratic party. This is our Democratic party. And we welcome anyone who wants to join us or help us with our cause. And we don't accuse elected Democrats of not being Democratic enough just because we don't agree with them or don't like them holding fellow Democrats accountable. However, if you still want to question my Democratic pedigree, I will tell you that when I was a teenager, I was knocking on doors and working for Democratic candidates when my father, Kenneth Miller of Independence, was the Chair of the Democrats in Buchanan County, Iowa. I worked on my father's election campaign when he was elected as a Democratic state representative in 1972, 74, 76, and 80. I

served him in Miller County

in the US Army from 1977 to 1980 so I could not help 1978. I knocked on doors for my brother Larry when he ran as a Democrat and was elected Buchanan Treasurer in 1974. He was re-elected in 1978.

I was elected to the Linn County Democratic Central Committee sometime after moving to Marion in 1986 and succeeded DJ Arnold as Financial Secretary in 1999. I was elected Chair of the Linn County Democratic Central Committee in early 2000. On June 16, 2001, the Iowa Democratic Party awarded me the Bob Creech Award in recognition of my dedicated involvement in the Iowa Democratic Party. I served as the Linn County Chair until after the November 2004 presidential election. I am a Democrat. I am a Democrat who has won elections. And I am a Democrat who can win in November 2012. I am running for re-election as your Linn County Auditor. I am asking for your support now to sign my nomination papers and donate to my campaign. And I am asking for your vote in the June primary if I should have an opponent and now it appears I have two opponents. I never left this party. I didn't join just yesterday. And I don't plan to leave tomorrow. I know what I stand for. I am running for re-election as your County Auditor. I am Joel Miller! Thank you!
