Refrigeration is a process in which the temperature of a space or its contents is reduced to below that of their surroundings. EXPLANATION OF HOW IT WORKS/IS USED: Refrigerant flows through the compressor, which raises the pressure of the refrigerant. Next the refrigerant flows through the condenser, where is condenses from vapor form to liquid form, giving off heat in the process. After the condenser, the refrigerant goes through the expansion valve, where it experiences a pressure drop. Finally, the refrigerant goes to the evaporator. The refrigerant draws heat from the evaporator which causes the refrigerant to vaporize. The evaporator draws heat from the region that is to be cooled. The vaporized refrigerant goes back to the compressor to restart the cycle.

Main Components Compressor the one compress the refrigerant in the system that makes the refrigerant raises its pressure. Condenser the condenser removes heat given off during the liquification of vaporized refrigerant. Heat is given off as the temperature drops to condensation temperature. Evaporator this is the part of the refrigeration system that the refrigerant draws heat from the evaporator which causes the refrigerant to vaporize. Flow Control Device (Expansion Valve) - this Controls the flow of the liquid refrigerant into the evaporator. Control devices usually are thermostatic, meaning that they are responsive to the temperature of the refrigerant. Solenoid Valve this shuts or opens as determined by the thermostat in the space or the secondary refrigerant being cooled. Oil Separator - are essential for screw compressors, but for other system, depending on the design criteria and length of pipes run, the may or may not be fitted. Driers are essential with the Freon gases to remove under from the system, otherwise the presence of even the smallest amount of water can have so disastrous effect on plant performance.

OBSERVATION: Based on my observation that the refrigeration system is a process or a system used to reduce the temperature of a space below to its surrounding. In addition to that the flow of the refrigerant being employed to the system is just being cycled. From the compressor, it is where the refrigerant is being compress in which the refrigerant raises its pressure. Next the refrigerant flows to the oil separator that separates the oil from the water. After the oil separator, the refrigerant flows to through the condenser, where is condenses from vapor form to liquid. Next the refrigerant now flows to the drier in which it serves as a remover of any presence of water in the system. After that now the refrigerant flows to solenoid and the expansion valve in which in these area is thermostat, meaning it is responsive to the temperature of the refrigerant. Finally, the refrigerant goes to the evaporator in which refrigerant draws heat from the evaporator which causes the refrigerant to vaporize. And the vaporized refrigerant goes back to the compressor to restart the cycle of the system.

CONCLUSION: Therefore I conclude that it is really useful to know about the main function of the refrigeration system onboard ship. Especially its major component and function for every devices. With this study it helps me to know everything about. On how to troubleshoot the system if in case of emergency. Locate the causing problem of the system in which part of it is having a problem.
