BIOGRAPHY
Prema Yin, a pop rock singer who always challenges herself with combinations of different genres. A soulful yet powerful entertainer, she is known by many as the pocket dynamite for her strong vocals and presence on stage. She took part in the National level singing competition organized by NTV 7, Who Will Win Malaysian Topstar and emerged as the winner in 2004. In 2006 she was invited to audition for the Aseana Percussion Unit and has been a member of this very popular group for the past 3 years. Performing in various local pub scenes: Bangkok Jazz, Groove Junction, Waikiki etc Festivals such as Penang Jazz Festival, Sunrise Jazz Fest, Sarawak Rainforest Festival as well as overseas(China for the Zhu Jia Jia Water Village Festival, Singapore Arts Festival). Prema Yin is not only an accomplished singer but she is also one of the rare breed of singer/song writer and has been composing her own songs since she was 14. Not only that, she has had the opportunity to perform on stage with Colbie Caillat (famous for her song, Bubbly) and the great John Ford Coley. In January 2009, she had two nominations for the Voize Independent Music Awards (VIMA) for Best Female Vocalist (Overall) and Best Rock Vocalist, which she bagged the Bronze Award, being the only female nominated amongst a category dominated by men. In 2010, she received four nominations, Best Rock Vocalist, Best Female Vocalist (Overall), Most Mindblowing Video Clip and Best Pop Song, where she received the Gold Award for Eyo Eyo. Prema Yin was also nominated for the Asian Voize Independent Music Awards (AVIMA2010) which was dubbed to be the biggest independent music award in the world. Nominations include Best Pop Song and Best Female Vocalist(Overall). In 2010, Prema Yin received 4 nominations for the Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM Awards) for Best New Artiste, Best Engineered Album, Best Music Video and Best Musical Arrangement in a Song for Eyo Eyo. The AIMs is the biggest Malaysian music awards. At the recent VIMA Awards 2012, she was crowned Best Overall Female Act. She toured Japan in September 2010 with her band. The performances took place at Nagoya, Osaka, Nara and Tokyo. Her song Marilah gained a lot of attention nationwide which features Shahz Jaszle and was directed by Gambit Saifullah where she gained 500,000 views in one week. She recently got back from the United States, where she attended the Hollywood Music in Media Awards(HMMA2011). Prema Yin was nominated in the Pop Category for her song Eyo Eyo. Celebrities who attended the award show were Eric Roberts, Smokey Robinson, Adam Gator (Matchbox20),Debra Messing etc. She performed at the Renaissance Hotel (Hollywood, LA) and legendary jazz club, The Blue Note (New York). She was also very actively doing co-writes and recordings over there. To name some of the songwriters/ producers she has worked with: Scott Krippayne(Demi Lovato, Jordin Sparks), Bill Grainer(Jennifer Hudson), Michele Vise and Harry Maslin(Nick Carter, Edens Crush, David Bowie) etc. Eyo Eyo was picked to be the soundtrack for the movie A Novel Romance which features Steve Guttenberg, Shannon Elizabeth, Milena Govich. Her song Eyo Eyo is currently being pushed to Indonesian radio stations. She co-wrote the theme song together with JD Popshuvit This Is The Moment, for Twisties Superstarz, a singing competition organized by Twisties, MTV and hitz.fm recently. She performed at the Guinness Arthurs Day 2011 event, where she opened for Taio Cruz and Soler. She was also one of the artists involved in Julies Biscuits Social Movement called, Share The Love which speaks about friendship and solidarity where her song Superstar was used to promote these values amongst Malaysians. Prema Yin is currently signed to US management TC Music, LLC.
