Ever play connect the dots when you were younger? For decades children have made pictures by this fun method. Even ancient Egyptians would look at stars and connect them to make images. Im convinced Eastmont has three dots to connect. Tie them together and they sum up our mission. So what are they? Connect to God; connect to others; connect to the world. It is really simple and simple works best for me. So if someone asks what Eastmont is all about, you can tell them We are about connecting. Here is even a more simple version of our mission: Love God, Love people, Serve the world. We have many wonderful people who have been at Eastmont a long time. I would like to think my sermons attracted them and kept them here. But study after study shows that people stick with churches where they have healthy friendships. That is why Sunday School is so important to us. Studying together, praying together, talking and laughing together is good for all of us. So even if there is someone who seldom or never attends your class, dont lose touch with them. A phone call, an encouraging card, or a brief visit makes a big difference. Bear Bryant coached at Alabama for twenty five years. He won six national titles and thirteen Southeastern Conference championships. Yet during his Alabama career, no Alabama players ever won the Heisman Trophy. Plenty of players were good enough to win it, but The Bear had a coaching philosophy that focused on the team rather than on individuals. This church is like that. We have a lot of dedicated, gifted servants, but it isnt about us. We are united with one goal: to serve our Lord Jesus. And that is why God continues to bless this church. Heres a great saying I plan to use: Be the soul provider for your children. Ill See you Sunday,
