Since this pattern is essentially a large granny square, you can use any yarn you please, and any hook. Gauge is not important. What I used: K hook (6.5 mm) Red Heart clouds Caron Simply Soft Bernat Satin Abbreviations used: hdc: half double crochet Ss: slip stitch St: stitch The blanket I made came out as a 29 x 29 and consisted of 30 rounds. You could add more rounds for a larger Size. dc: double crochet sk: skip ch sp: chain space

To achieve the color pattern I used, you will begin with a new color on the following rows: 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 23, 25 Start by chaining 3 and joining OR making a magic circle. Round 1: Ch 1, 12 hdc in ring, join with ss to beginning. Round 2: Ch1(counts as 1st hdc) 1 hdc in each of the next 2 sts *ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1hdc in each of the next 3 sts* repeat 2 more times, ch 1 then join with ss to 1st hdc. (here I fastened off.) Round 3: (here I joined a new color on any side of the front of the square in the last st on the left side) This round is worked as follows: Ch 1 (counts as 1 st hdc) in each ch sp *hdc 2, ch 1, hdc 2* and in each st 1 hdc. Join with a ss to 1 st hdc.

All of the following rounds are worked in the same pattern as round 3. Edge is worked as follows: *sc, 4dc in next st, sk 1, ss in next st*around. Fasten off.
