PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (PMS)THE KEY TO ENHANCED PRODUCTIVITY


An employee is expected to spend about 166 to 200 hours a month working for an organization. If the persons cost to the company is Rs.4, 00,000 annually, his per hour cost will be Rs.200 and normally (s)he is expected to deliver an output at least 3 to 10 times his/her cost to the company. This means that the opportunity cost of the employee ranges from Rs.600 to Rs.2, 000 an hour. It is clear from this illustration that organizations can derive great benefit if there is a system that will help the Individual plan more effectively to use her/his time and deliver the desired output expected from her/him. This can be achieved by implementing Performance Management System (PMS) in a systematic and disciplined way. Also, a well implemented PMS is critical to the success of a manager to achieve high team performance and optimize team productivity. Implemented well, a PMS not only provides role clarity, optimizes resource utilization but also integrates the individual goals to the organization goals, finally leading to business excellence. It also serves as a process to evaluate employee performance, develop the organizational human capital and meet an individuals growth and development needs. TVRLS is offering these two open programs (Level 1 and Level 2) to help Line/HR Managers implement PMS well, both as an appraiser and an appraisee. While the level 1 workshop has been designed for Line Managers and HR professionals, the Level 2 Workshop is a Train The Trainer workshop for facilitators of PMS, Internal Trainers and HR Managers to help them facilitate goal setting and Performance Review Discussion workshops.

OBJECTIVES:
Level I Workshop: Implementing PMS (May 26th & 27th) To provide conceptual inputs and an application oriented perspective of Performance Management System To help participants understand the components of the Performance Management System and its impact on business, managerial and organizational effectiveness To equip participants to conduct Performance Analysis and Performance Review Discussion (PRDs) Level II Workshop: Train the Trainer aimed at Facilitating PMS (May 26th-29th) Over and above the objectives mentioned in Level 1, the Train the Trainer workshop aims at: Training participants to Facilitate PMS in ones own organization. Develop skills in Designing and Auditing PMS

WHAT WILL THE WORKSHOP DELIVER?


Level I: Implementing PMS (Knowledge and Skill Development) After having gone through the workshop, participants will be equipped with concepts and skills, which help in Implementing PMS in ones own organization. Knowledge includes Meaning of Performance Measurement of Performance Performance Indicators PMS and their Objectives KPAs and KRAS Target Setting and SMART Goals Performance Analysis Performance Equation Using PMS for Organization, Team and Career Development Identifying Development Needs Skills Development includes Identifying KPAs /KRAS (Performance Planning and Goal setting) Self Appraisal and Performance Analysis Conducting Performance Review Discussions (PRDs) Identifying Development needs Level II: Train the Trainer (Facilitating PMS) After having gone through the Level I workshop, in Level II, participants will be equipped with concepts and skills to help them Implement and Facilitate PMS in ones own Organization. (Attending the level I workshop is a must for qualifying for attending the Level II workshop) Additional skill development includes o Facilitating the entire PMS process o Designing PMS o Auditing PMS The participants will be required to conduct mock sessions on how they would facilitate a PMS session and they would be given feedback on the same.

INVESTMENTS
Level I: Implementing PMS (Knowledge and skill development)- Rs.15, 000 per participant (Non residential)+ 12.36 % service tax. Total fees is Rs. 16,854/ Level II: Train the Trainer (Facilitating PMS) - Rs.40, 000 per participant (Non residential) + 12.36% service tax. Total fees is Rs.44, 944/-. This is inclusive of 2 days of level I.

Prof. T.V.Rao and Dr. Udai Pareek had evolved the basis for a development oriented appraisal system at Larsen & Tubro Limited in 1974. Since then, a lot of work has been done in designing and implementing Performance Appraisal in various organizations. Research in PMS includes exploring many facets of Performance Management and how it works and extends to encompass individuals, dyads and teams.
