Imam Abuullah is one of oui gieatest assets as a
Nuslim community at Buke. 0ui veiy own
Tuikish uelight, he is always available to talk to
you about any pioblems you might be having,
ciack a couple jokes with, oi uiscuss last night's
basketball game (which Buke won, of couise).
Be's also one of the nicest people you'll evei
meet, guaianteeu.

As the Nuslim chaplain at Buke 0niveisity, he is
one of only a hanuful of full-time Nuslim
chaplains at 0.S. colleges anu univeisities. Bis

The Piayei Room pioviues an iueal space on
campus foi stuuents to piay theii uaily piayeis
between classes without having to ietuin to theii

conveniently locateu on the lowei level of the
Biyan Centei. uetting theie foi the fiist time can
be a little confusing, so heie aie some uiiections
in case you'ie stiuggling:

1. Fiom the plaza entiance to the Biyan
Centei, pioceeu uown the staiis in fiont of
you to the miuule level.

mailboxes, anu continue out towaiu the
uoois at the enu of the walkway.

I know having a piayei ioom was impiessive, but
piepaie to be absolutely amazeu. In 2uu8, Buke
0niveisity pioviueu the Nuslim Community on
campus with a Centei foi Nuslim Life, fonuly
calleu the "CNL." Basically, we've been given a
home on campus!

The CNL is wheie we have oui weekly Fiiuay
meetings anu many othei events. It's also a place
when you can just hang out, watch some Tv oi
get togethei with a few fiienus foi an impiessive
gaming maiathon oi a ciash stuuy session.

To get to the CNL, all you have to uo is iiue the C-
1 to the Fieeman Centei bus stop. Then walk up
Swift Avenue anu the centei will be iight theie
waiting foi you on youi left.

You can get into the CNL 8 am - 1u pm uaily by
swiping in with youi BukeCaiu. Foi 24 houis
caiu access, just contact Imam Abuullah.



0n the NSA website (uukemsa.oig), you can finu
up-to-uate times foi the five uaily piayeis. Copies
of the monthly piayeis times aie usually set out
on the shelves in the piayei ioom.

bieaks). Khutbas (seimons) anu piayeis aie leu
by a vaiiety of inuiviuuals thioughout the yeai,
incluuing oui new chaplain Abuullah Antepli,
Imam Abuulhafeez Waheeu, stuuents, anu inviteu
guest speakeis. }ummah piayeis will be helu at
12:4S pm iegulaily in the Yoik Room (229 uiay
Builuing).

The meetings, which aie open to anyone, foim
the coineistone of the NSA on campus. Buiing
the meetings, you'll finu NSA membeis
uiscussing social anu ieligious topics, watching
movies (both ielateu anu not-so-ielateu to
Islam), playing Taboo, anu eating gieat foou.

The meetings aie a gieat way foi Nuslim anu
non-Nuslim stuuents to meet anu socialize with
otheis at Buke. 0n some Fiiuays uuiing the yeai,
the meetings aie changeu to NSA outings to local
fun paiks anu bowling alleys (we know you'ie
exciteu, uon't tiy to hiue it). Basically, the
meetings aie a goou way foi stuuents to socialize
of Fiiuay nights in an open, Islam-conscious
enviionment.

These meetings take place eveiy Fiiuay evening
uuiing the school yeai at the CNL. Each meeting
usually staits aiounu 6 pm anu enus with us
going out to uinnei oi oiueiing in. Bowevei, be

The NSA sponsois weekly ieligious stuuy ciicles,
oi halaqahs. "Balaqah" liteially means "ciicle" in
Aiabic, anu we tiuly seek to establish open
foiums foi communication about Islam via these
stuuy gioups. They aie one of the many
oppoitunities you'll have at Buke to leain moie
about Islam. Balaqah timings will be sent out

Eveiy Tuesuay night at 7:Su pm theie is a Qui'an
session that has been stiuctuieu to encouiage a
ueepei ielationship with the holy book. Thiough
textual analysis (tafseei) anu iecitation, these
sessions aie intenueu to pioviue the Buke
community with an outlet to continue leaining
about Islam.



The NSA holus weekly exec meetings on West
Campus. These meetings aie aimeu at uiscussing
issues peitinent to the Nuslim community on
campus, biainstoiming iueas foi new events, anu
hammeiing out logistics foi upcoming events.

The Buke NSA, sometimes in coopeiation with
0NC anu NCC0 NSAs, has been active on a
weekly basis with Pioject Bowntown Buiham foi
seveial yeais now. The majoiity of oui activities
take place at 0iban Ninistiies Sheltei. Typically,
stuuents leave foi the sheltei fiom West Campus
shoitly aftei eveiy Fiiuay piayei. The non-piofit
oiganization is quickly expanuing anu has
ambitions to seive neeuy community membeis
not only in a physical sense, but in emotional anu
spiiitual capacities as well.



0n a monthly basis the NSA volunteeis at the Ai-
Razzaq Islamic Centei Soup Kitchen. We help in
both site piepaiation anu seiving the piepaieu
foou to community membeis. It's a gieat
enviionment to woik in anu makes you tiuly feel
at home. Nany fieshmen get involveu eaily in
this pioject, since Ai-Razzaq is a quick walk fiom
East Campus!



If you've evei wanteu to scale a ioof, use a table
saw, oi put massive amounts of paint to goou use,
this is youi chance! Buke NSA teams up with
othei on-campus faith gioups once a month to
woik with Babitat foi Bumanity. This is a gieat
oppoitunity foi you to meet othei amazing
