ADPR 3600 EKACHAI Public Relations Writing Portfolio Project (150 + 15 = 165 points) Due date: May 4 by 4 p.m.

(Folder turned in at JH 304; electronic on D2L) You must follow the following steps: #1. Client Selection The two parts (a and b) of this portion of the portfolio are collectively worth 15 pts. You will be evaluated on how well you follow directions and the completeness of your packet. a. Select a client Before selecting a client, read the entire portfolio assignment carefully to ensure that the client you select will be appropriate. It is important to choose an organization that is willing and able to provide you with the information you need to complete the various portfolio elements. Give me a brief background of your client and a brief description of why you selected that client. Discuss the suitability of that client based on the information packet and writing pieces you need to create (see rest of this assignment). Its best if the client is in the Milwaukee metro area so you can meet with him/her in person. I recommend that you select a small organization that you are already familiar with or interested in. The client can be a for-profit or not-for-profit organization. You need to have a contact at the organization to work with to obtain information and relevant materials. I want you to be excited about working with your client to develop ready-to-use PR materials that would be beneficial to the organization. I will review your selection of a client and I will discuss it with you if I have concerns about the suitability of your selection. Proposed client with brief background and reason for selection is due Feb. 7. My approval: Feb. 9. Develop a profile and information packet about your client. Once I have approved your selection of a client, I want you to learn as much about the organization as possible. Meet with your contact person to review the entire assignment and what youll need from that person. Client profile and information packet is due in class Feb 16. The packet should include, but not limited to: 1. The name of the contact person, phone number and email address. 2. URL of client's home page, if client has a web site. 3. A profile of your client: a. Describe what your client does. b. Describe the typical target audiences and their demographics and psychographics. c. List the media currently used to deliver the messages. 4. At least three of the following PR materials: (1) news releases, (2) brochure or flyer, (3) backgrounder and/or fact sheet, (4) direct mail letter, (5) annual report, (6) newsletters, (7) scripts or recordings of PSAs, TV or radio commercials (8) print ads, (9) mission statement. 5.
