New Years Resolution to learn to sail?


Well then CU Yacht Club has the perfect course for you! The Day Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory Course, starting 24th January for 8 weeks, covers the theory behind sailing and is the perfect starting point for budding sailors!! It details such topics as navigation, seamanship and meteorology and finishes with an RYA Certificate leading to practical courses. Now is the perfect time to do this course in time for summer when the Club Yacht Kestrel is heading South to warmer climates! Auditions of Instrumentalists for Fitz Swing Band


Fitz Swing is one of Cambridgdes leading jazz bands and rehearses on Monday nights. We are planning to have a busy May Week, playing lots of events and balls and there is a possibility of a band tour this summer to foreign shores. There are still a few unfilled places in our line up and wed like to hear from you if you can play electric (rhythm) guitar, piano or trombone. Also wed like to have another trumpet to bring the section to five. A third-year Cambridge undergraduate, Oliver Rees, as part of his dissertation research, is running an online survey to find out about different peoples personalities, and how different people think. If you would like to anonymously help the study by completing a short 7 minute online survey and find out about your personality traits whilst doing so, please go to this address: http://oliverrees.co.uk/personality. All raw data collected in the online survey will be encrypted, and will be destroyed once the dissertation has been completed.

Auditions (musical and non-musical) are being held on Monday 23rd January 2pm-6pm, Thursday 26th January 7pm-9pm and Saturday 18th January 2pm-6pm in Z basement of Christs College. Earn 100 and get a professional reference interviewing finalists with the Times
Seeking people to work as part of the interviewer team in Cambridge for The Times Final Year Survey 2012. The post will last for a week and require you to interview 25 final year students (5 students a day for 5 days and 2 days for contingency). The questionnaire will cover career aspirations and plans after university for this years finalists. You will be fully briefed at a training session on Weds 8th February (16:00), get a pack of goodies from sponsors and all materials will be provided. For conducting 25 interviews you will receive 75, or if 35 interviews are conducted this will increase to 100. The results of the survey are published in the national press in April and presented to all top graduate recruiters. This is a great opportunity to add to your CV, demonstrating initiative, time management, organisational and communication skills and you will be able to gain a professional reference from the position.
