Critical evaluation
Therearethreemainthesesmentionedinthearticle.Theauthorsdelveintothepaternalismof foreignorganizations.TheydescribehowChinadealswithforeignorganizations,whichhavea spiritualorfinancialinfluenceontheChinesecommunity.Thisisillustratedbyanexampleofthe currentsituationoftheCatholicChurchinChina,whichisnotunderthepatronageoftheVatican, butratherunderthecontroloftheChineseReligiousAffairsBureau(p.95,ll.1ff.).Furthermorethis extendstoforeignprofitorientatedorganizations,whichareforcedtobepartofaChinesejoint ventureandthereforesharetheirfirmspecificknowledgeadvantages(p.96,ll.40ff.). However,theauthors,ProfessorHoutandProfessorGehmawat,areinfluencedbytheirwestern educationandthereforehavearathersubjectiveviewonthissubject.Moreovertheargumentsthey statearenotprovidedwithenoughproveandthereforehaveaninsufficientcredibility.
