Never doubt the wisdom of the agency - everyone has the ability to do something that matters.

Nothing less than the ability to own your ideas and do powerful things with the, OT be fully engaged and active in bothe your school and world. The idea that our children can be in and of our world to do something that matters. They need us to se each of them and see the brilliance in them. Most children in our country think that School is somtehting that is done somehting that is done to them.

We know what is best for them...wrong. You can never doubt the wisdom of the voices of the children. - deputy super of school dist. of Philly Agency - How? Develop Head heart hands and voice. Develop their minds. Seek out answers. Not ours but ones never thought of. Help them ask the questions. Help them grow along the way. Watch our students race past us should be of great pleasure to us. We must help them develop the lofe of the mind. Develop their Heart - We must help them see the world woth empathy. More than just analytical minds and data. They must see the humanity of the world around us. Hands - Do stuff that matters. Help them create things. Dare them to do things know. Cant tell what their world will be like in 50 years. Voice - Let the kids tell the story to the state reps, etc. They did the research and found the answers. Interviewed the right peoples.

Build on the ethic of care - Care about, and for, your students. They in return can care for you. We are better together than we are apart. Ethic of care - Networks - I dont need a network, I need a family. Brothers, fathers, mentors. Schools should be a second home. Should want ot be there. Anything that you say or do its OK to come back and challenge the person. Build systems and structures around what we beilieve. Everything we say we do we should be able to point to the ways that awe do it. Every child should have an advocate for them in the school. (system of care) We should all be accountable to the question,What does teaching and learning look like in your building. How do you learn and how is it sustained? WHen you do you unlock students passion. Challenge - What if school wasnt preparation for real life. What if it was real life? - CL What if we let kids d o stuff that matters now? - CL Engage with the world. Goal - Not to create the 21st century work force. Too low a bar. Should be to help our students become the 21st century, and beyond, citizens we desperatyl need. Fully realized people of their world. The scholars, poets, parents, activists, neighbors, voters, and yes workers, the citizens we need. The most important thing we do is to teach the child that we have in front of us to become a fully realized person. - CL All remember - Make sure you realize that all that we have learned server nothing else but to help us all become better people. Dont say you teach math, english, etc. Say, I teach children. That is what we all endeavor to do. Our goal:

4 things for our children.: Grow up thoughtful (truly full of thought), wise (wisdom to apply the thoughts in powerful ways), passionate (to care bout their world and move and do and be in meaningful ways.) and kind (remember to find the humanity in all of this around them). Right down the goals and the actions plan of how you are going to implement them. We have already won. We all know that technology needs to be used in school. Innvoate our way out of this crisis. They need to look to educators. If the best we can imagine these tools to be as the next greatest flash card or a better way to test our children. We will have failed. We can give our children the most powerful productivity tools ever invented in existence. We can hand them tools that we could, for the most part, have only imagined, and then dare them to do something with them. Technology in our schools shuld be like oxygen - ubiquitous, necessary and invisible. IT has to be everyhwerwe and part of everyhting we do. Technology: Stop talking about it so much. Yes, the tool is powerful. Its a tool, but dont forget the people. Its people creating, doing, being. Its about their agency. Head, hearts, hands, and voice. Use the technology to serve those goals. Unless you are using these tool to research, create, collaborate and network, to make things that matter, to seek out answers, to share your knowledge. To show what you know and then to bring that voice to the world. All you ahve done is create the next greatest flash card. We must empower the children and ourselves. - Its not just about unlocking their potential, but all of our potential. - The ability to say I need help and to get it and then give it back. - We can share our world. To come together and to never come apart. How?: - Be humble. This work is hard. We done have all the ansers. That would dishonor all of our failures. - Question anyone that has all the answers. - Be one community.

- Its about us all. - Innovate our way out the crisis and be one community and lead. - Use these tools to do things we could never do before.
