MERRY CHRISTMAS

It has been a busy year for New Reality!

Time really does y when you are having fun! This past year has been full of travel adventures, moves and lots of joy as NRI volunteers and staff have travelled the world serving the poorest of the poor. We wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of our supporters and volunteers a Merry Christmas and update you on all that has been going on during the past year thanks to you. In 2011 NRI medical, dental and surgical teams treated thousands of patients in Haiti, Guatemala, Guyana and Nigeria with desperately needed care. We have also had the great opportunity of partnering in building homes in Haiti with the Up From Under project. We have big plans for 2012 and are excited about the ways in which we are growing and venturing into new territory!

In February Dr. Cecily Wang led a team to Haiti to provide free medical care in various needy villages and tent camps throughout the Port au Prince area. Not long after, R.N. Christina Mavinic, also lead a medical team to Haiti from her very own Lion's Gate Hospital in Vancouver B.C. The team volunteered at the Hospital Bernard Mevs in Port au Prince which is run and staffed by Project Medishare. In April NRI sent out its second dental team to work with Wings for Humanity in Guyana, South America. The team was able to treat hundreds of patients in various remote river villages that are only accessible by plane and boat with

much needed dental care & education. It was such a wonderful experience that we are planning to do it again in 2012! In July Volunteer Director Alicia Grant led a medical and dental team to Peten Guatemala to serve at the Gods Helping Hands medical clinic and surrounding villages near Machaquila. This was a very meaningful trip for Alicia because she was able to visit and serve the very orphanage she was adopted from as an infant. NRI had the opportunity to travel to Africa for the rst time this November, joining the Moses Lake Medical Team in providing surgical, medical, dental and eye care to the needy in Ibadan. Over 3000 patients were treated, 295 teeth were pulled and 64 surgeries were performed during the two week mission. We are looking forward to another mission to Africa in the coming year.
