FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING PRACTICE I. Course Description: This 3-unit course covers concepts of the foundations of the science and art of nursing; theoretical, philosophical, and conceptual models as foundations of nursing and an analysis of the trends, issues and future directions of nursing, including the evolution of the nursing profession. II. Specific Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: 1. Discuss the history of theory development in nursing
2. Identify the major concepts of selected nursing theories and other related theories

3. Appreciate the relevance of nursing theories in the development of the nursing profession.
