INTRODUCTION
JK Industries, which belongs to the Laxmipat Singhania faction of the JK group, was promoted in 1951, by group companies Straw Products and JK Synthetics.

Mr. Raghupati Singhania, is an eminent industrial & business leader, he is the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of JK Industries Ltd. He is also Chairman of Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA). He has headed various Chambers of Commerce & Industry as well as Government bodies and also contributed significantly as a Leader of delegations to various countries across the world.

JK Organisation is an association of industrial and commercial companies and charitable trusts. Its member companies, employing nearly 50,000 persons are engaged in the manufacture of a variety of products and in diverse fields of commerce.

JK Tyre is determined for delivering the best and the most reliable products to its customers. For this JK Tyre has built Hari Shankar Elastomer and Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI) in Rajasthan. Its focus on R&D, efforts to widen product range, increases capacities (5.7mn tyres) and offer radials for the entire range of 4 wheelers to service a wide customer base has further strengthened its presence in the industry.

JK Tyre has the largest distribution network of 4000 dealer across India. It has a turnover of around Rs.2500 Crore. It is ranked as the 18th largest tyre company in the world. It has been awarded Superbrand. This is the only tyre company to receive the prestigious status.

Product Range:

JK Tyre manufactures tyres for a wide range of vehicles and offers the most comprehensive range of products to suit the requirements of its customers. Presently JK offers tyres for:-

Trucks Light Commercial Vehicles ( LCVs) Jeep Car Racing Car Tyres Tractor Trailer Animal Driven Vehicles. Tire Specs & Options Side wall height is an important consideration in selecting tires. Tires to be used off road should have a high profile, or tall side wall. VW specifies 80 series tires for the syncro this reason (e.g., 185R14 or 205R16). The taller the side wall, the more cushion the tire provides to absorb bumps and rocks, and the less likely the wheel is to be damaged. VW does, however, specify a 65 series tire (205/65/15) for the 15" wheels that come on the South African T-3 (Microbus), but this appears to be due to gearing considerations. Extra caution should be used with 65 series tires in rugged off road terrain. Tire width is also an important consideration. VW specifies 185 - 205 mm widths for the syncro. There is a reason for this. First, wider tires are heavier. This increased mass affects suspension and steeriing. It also affects acceleration. A heavier tire/wheel combo will tax the damping of the shocks and degrade suspensipon performance. It will

also tax the steering system (including steering rack bushings) and put added stress on all of the components, even the CV joints and the transaxle. Secondly, in most situations, narrow tires will provide better traction and surer footing than wider tires. Big, fat tires may look cool, but a syncro with narrower tires (e.g., 195mm) will nearly always out-perform one with wider tires (e.g., 225mm), not only in terms of traction and sure-footedness, but also in suspension performance and acceleration. For these reasons, the stock tire width specs should not be carelessly discarded. There will be a trade off in performance proportional to the extent one wanders from those specs. Tire pressure has a big effect on tire performance, suspension and handling. VW specifies that the rear tires have higher pressure than the front tires by several pounds (see your door jam or owners manual for details). You can fine tune steering by adjusting this differential. It is well worth the little time it takes to try different tire pressures to see how they affect handling. Tires for the syncro require 40 p.s.i. pressure capability. Several of the tires availablke for the syncro will take up to 65 p.s.i. There is no one air pressure good for all vehicles at all times, so none will be offered here. However, for off road use (and driving in snow), airing down greatly increases traction and provides a softer ride. In sand, it is not uncommon to go down to 10 p.s.i., but the tire can come off the rim if pressure is too low. Higher pressures should be used in rocky terrain.

Central Problem
As instructed by my corporate guide I was assigned in a task of solving the problem of rim fitting in tyres.I developed a product design called Spacer to solve this problem and suggested this to the company. The details and significant of this product are as follows.

SPACER Fig-1

Tyre Spacer
It is used in tyre to prevent closeness of the tyre width. Some time it is observed that Rim is not fitted properly because the retailer does not keep the tyres in his rack as prescribed by the company as a result of which the tyre width get reduced.

Fig-2 It is shown in fig that how to kept tyre in proper way, so that width of tyre is not short or close. Spacer is use to prevent space of width. It keep the tyre width in proper way.

Tyre Fitting Machine

Fig-4 This is tyre Rim fitting machine ,through which a proper tyre is fitted. If tyre width is not proper then tyre is cutted and tyre is waste. Before fitting the tire on the rim, following points must be verified:

Tire size and characteristics are correct for the vehicle and the application Verify that the rim size is approved on BKT Technical data book Width of tyre is proper as given in data book

Never mix rims with similar dimensions (e.g.: 26xTW24B i.p.o. 26,5xAG24.00 and viceversa)

Rim must be verified before In case of a re-mounted tire (not new), this must be controlled internally and externally and repaired if necessary. Use only brand new inner tubes (for tube type tires) and air valves (for tubeless tires). Different size of spacer use in different size of tyre

To avoid this above mentioned Problem of Reduction in the width of tyre we can place them in a rack as shown in fig 6. And to solve the same problem company also provide Spacer with every tyre by which tyre remains safe.
