We list the things we want to remember, or that we want others to remember. It may be a grocery list, a phone list, a guest list, or even a bucket list. At this time of year, a gift list may be the most common. We tend to think about gifts during this season; especially the gifts that we want to give or receive from those who are close to us. Consider a Thanksgiving List. This list is not the one you take to the grocery store to purchase the elements of the dinner. No, this is the list of the things for which you are truly thankful. It is one thing to say that you are thankful as you sit around a table full of food. It is quite another thing to actually start making a list of the things in your life for which you should give thanks. If I were to begin to make my list, it would be awfully long. It might not be an exacting order or level of importance, but there are some things that come to mind quickly. I would naturally have my family in bold print. I know I have been blessed. My lovely wife has worked with me for over thirty-four years. I cant even begin to list all my thanks in regard to her. My children are fantastic blessings that cause me to be thankful every day. Even the children-in-law are more than I could have asked to have. And what about the grand-boys? They bring joy to my heart at the very thought of them. Lets go a little farther. I know I am fortunate to have been born into the family that has loved me. No one has had better parents, and yes, even sisters. Then there is the church. How could anyone not be thankful for this great congregation of people? Room does not permit me to write of personal friends, the Bible, this great country, Oklahoma, health, home, technology, and the list goes on and on. Above all is the thanks to God for letting me be called a child of His. Yes, give thanks for the food, but what a list we can have! Russ
