Programmes structure
Your understanding of the subjects covered and your ability to use the knowledge and skills gained will be enhanced through a variety of methods and strategies. Some of the key learning approaches that you will experience as a student in our MBA will include : Group work : Group work is recognized as vital in your development when looking forward to, or continuing in, a management role. You will be supported in learning how to form and maintain group cohesiveness to achieve clearly defined outcomes, such as a business report, a group presentation. Case studies : you will be presented with many different business case studies that reflect the reality of decision-making and problem-solving activities in todays business environment.

Master of Business Administration (Core courses)


Entrepreneurship This course explores the characteristics of entrepreneurial opportunities. We will discuss the individual skills, energy, capital, and individual mind-set or psychology usually found in entrepreneurs. The venture planning process and the creativity, legal aspects, marketing, capital, and selection of associates are all discussed, as well as evaluation of risk factors. Class sessions will be interactive, and students will prepare cases. Human Resource Management This course will show how important the human factor is in the development of a firm's social strategies (recruitment, motivation and estimated management policies). The course also analyses the capacity to anticipate and adjust the different needs and resources for organisational change. Managerial Economics This course helps students to understand how a firm develops in a competitive structure, with the formation of the different economic balances: supply and demand on a market, price mechanism, cost of goods and services, production and price-market relation. Managerial Communication The course helps students realise how important communicating effectively is for future managers at all levels. The emphasis will be placed on practising some of the various forms of communication and in controlling their feedback mechanism. Managerial Marketing This course examines the different concepts of strategic marketing (buyer's behaviour, segmentation, positioning) and marketing mix (price, production, distribution, communication). Skills in this field help decision makers, especially in fixing business policies, distribution and management methods. Organizational Behaviour This course provides tools for understanding how organisations function, from individual behaviour (perception, attitude, personality, motivation) to group interaction (communication, conflicts, negotiation). Managerial Accounting This course offers an intensive study of financial statement analysis including the forces underlying the provision of financial statements, the properties of numbers derived from financial statement information, the environment in which these decisions are made, and alternative evaluation techniques. Managerial Finance This course provides a comprehensive coverage of the most significant topics in financial management. The course emphasises the time-value of money and relates each major financial decision to the goal of maximising the value of the firm.

International business (concentration)


International Finance The course examines the environment in which the international financial manager operates. Students examine the risk of doing business overseas and the means to minimise those risks. Foreign exchange risks, political risks, hedging, treasury trends and trade finance are discussed within this context. International Business This module is designed to develop an understanding of the nature and environment of international business with an analysis of international opportunities. The aim of the course is to provide managers with a broad, integrated, international focus and knowledge that they can use to improve their performance in multinational organisations. International Marketing This course examines the problems that firms encounter when they enter international markets. The texts and readings explore marketing problems facing point venture and multinational firms as well as exports and licences. A range of marketing activities is covered in the context of international operations. International Business Strategy This module is grounded on the fundamental principles of strategic management and focuses on strategy making in business corporations. Emphasis is on corporate and business level strategic analysis, strategy formulation and implementation. Strategic management emphasizes the determination and evaluation of environmental opportunities. The course will examine the firms environments, especially the international environment, using the tools of analysis.

Digital marketing (concentration)


Concepts of Digital Marketing This course aims at discovering the mains stakes of marketing in the fast-growing online marketing sector with a special emphasis on the new business models: mobile-phones, e-business, channels integration, search engine optimization, blogs, social networks, brand differentiation management. We will proceed to the study of the tools while taking into account the marketing mix and its integration into companies assets. Consumer Behaviour in Digital Marketing This course aims at understanding and identifying the new customers motivation in order to adapt the development of the marketing campaign. We will explain the purchase decision process throughout the social stratification, the concept of culture and the societal behaviour of the new consumer through business applications. Digital marketing strategy The goal of this course is to review different types of objectives, strategies and tactics related to digital marketing planning, and to review the range of strategic options facing a digital marketing manager. It also aims to set specific goals for digital marketing plans, select and define digital marketing strategies and to align digital marketing strategies with marketing and business goals. Analysis & Matrix in Digital Marketing The purpose of this course is to gain a mastery of the key area of digital technology, to control the online customers interaction and to analyze the digital media evolution matrix (web, e-mail, mobile phones), to measure the sessions, visits and purchases while taking the environment into account. This module gives an overview of best practices.

Admissions
Postgraduate requirements 1) A complete application Form with a 600 word motivation letter. 2) An official undergraduate university diploma: bachelor degree, licence, engineer or equivalent. (Certified copy in English) 3) Final university transcripts from undergraduate program certified in English. 4) A Resume / Curriculum Vitae stating relevant professional work experience 5) A letter of recommendation (from an employer or undergraduate professor) 6) Language : For non-native English speakers > an English proficiency test. 7) Copy of Passport and 4 Passport sized Photos 8) Non-Refundable Application Fee of Sfr. 150.-. 9) International student : proof of financial means Only completed admission files will be considered. It is recommended to have an interview with an admission officer. Language test requirements* The in-house IFM's English test. TOEFL score of 213 (CBT computer based test), TOEFL score of 89 (IBT internet based test) the TOEFL code for Universiry IFM is 8637. IELTS (minimum 5.5). Cambridge Advanced English Certificate. This requirement may be waived if the last three years of the student's education were in English. IFM reserves the right to request an English proficiency certificate at our discretion. Academic intakes The university offers 2 intakes a year : October and January. The Deadlines for admission and registration are published in our academic calendar. Students can submit their application before each start date, early submission is recommended. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Applications sent after the deadline, except in special cases, will be transferred automatically to the following entry. Information Processing timeframe The timeframe depends on the will and the motivation of the student to provide a complete file. Once the complete file is received, the admissions department sends an answer within approximately 15 days. Decision & acceptance letter The academic committee determines acceptance or refusal. Evaluation of the student's chances of success is part of the decision-making process. If you are admitted, you will receive an admission letter and a registration form. Pre-admission Students who will be receiving their diploma the same year as the chosen entry period can apply for pre-admission. They will only need to present their diploma to complete the application. The final decision will be taken upon receipt of the diploma or the attestation of completion.

International student admission The university welcomes students of more than 50 nationalities. Admission requirements The admission requirements are the same for all students. We do have extensive experience with applications from around the world and each application is carefully analyzed, considering results from other schools, professional experience, age etc. The decision for each admission is taken considering the capacity of the candidate to benefit from the training. Deadlines International students living outside of Europe: complete applications must be received at least 3.5 months before the chosen entry period. The University only starts its part of the visa procedure once the registration is finalized and financial matters are settled. The admission letter and the confirmation of registration letter do not allow the automatic obtention of a visa or residence permit. Financing International students living outside of Switzerland or in Switzerland for study matters must show evidence of sufficient financial means (letter and/ or bank statement)
