2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW.

2.1 History of social network Social networking websites may be defined as sites that allow users to build a profile that will be made public within an enclosed system. Social networking websites also allow users to display some of the other users they communicate with and they allow them to view lists of other members found within the system. It should be noted that the main purpose behind creation of a social networking website is to enable persons to avail pre-existing connections. Social networking websites have also been created for the purpose of initiating friendships between strangers. (Acquisti & Gross, 2006) The past few years has seen the social networking becoming necessity among Malaysians. The burgeoning of the social networking market has generated the founding a number of internet service providers who are competing among themselves for a larger market share. When social networking were first introduced, they were expansive status symbol since who used it must have expansive gadget. We could only see it being used by high-class people but then, similar to other technologies after several years it would become cheaper and easier to use .When it first introduce to people at late 1990 no one seem interested to it. This is because at that time they still dont know about it use. One of the reasons why it not so famous because to use it people must have quite expansive gadget like computer. Through the time, social networking begun to build its popularity among people. It easier and faster to connect with other people compare the old ways attracts people attention. But until era 20 century the social network become very famous .According to SueLynnCarty (2010) Social networking actually existed before MySpace and Facebook. Online communities began building in the late 1990s with sites such as Classmates and Six Degrees. It wasn't until around 2005 when social networking exploded with MySpace, Facebook and Xanga.

The Abuse of Social Networking 6 Among University Students

Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook offer opportunities to post a host of personal and professional experiences, information, and even photos. You can also block information and make it available only to those you select to be able to view what you have posted. Facebook is a social networking site for professionals and provides an opportunity for them to connect and communicate with people working in specific fields of interest. Facebook also offers an opportunity to connect with people who know people you know in your network. Social networking services were started with the intention of linking small communities. Elements of these features were present in the past but very few companies offered all the three essential features that make social networking websites. These are an ability to create profiles, provide the profiles to other users and also to view their users' lists. According to Cassidy (2006) All service networking companies have had major differences because of restrictions or access to the above three features. MySpace and Facebook are one of the most reputable companies in the industry.

2.2

Advantage of Social Networking

When we talk about social networking advantage there are many points that can support it. One of the reasons is that people can make friend worldwide with it. Social networking is really famous nowadays. It has become necessity for each people without boundary of age or status financial. This is because it have become cheaper and easier to use it by time. The Internet service provider is competing with each other to lower the price in order to attract more people. As a result more and more people are capable to use it nowadays compare to the late 1990.People are attracted to know people from other region in the world as they did know much before this. Social networking is one of the ways that make this concept become reality since it faster and easier. SueLynnCarty (2010) state that Because of the vast amount, (roughly 150 million users altogether) on the two major social networks, MySpace and Facebook, the door for social networking is left wide open. If we talk about old ways of communication it takes a lot of time to connect people at distant. For example by post a letter it may take few days or week to reach its destination. It also cannot guaranty that it will reach its destination safely because a lot of thing can happen during at travelling time.

The Abuse of Social Networking 7 Among University Students

So one of the ways to make sure their communication did not have any interruption is by social networking. From a business point of view, the first two advantages of social networking enable you to meet new clients and expand your business because most of these sites allow you to customize your webpage and provide links to your personal website. Just to give you a few examples, there is Multiply, MySpace, Friendster, Face Book and Classmates. With so many around, you won't have a hard time looking for a social network that you like. You can even post ads here so you can inform other members of an event that you are hosting. The best part about becoming a member of a social network is that majority of these is free. This means that you don't have to pay any fees. All you have to do is sign up by filling up the form and then activating the link when this is sent to you via email. Now that you are a member, you can invite other friends to join and look at other profiles.

2.3 Disadvantage of social networking .

To use social networking people has to insert data about their self in order to make an account .One of the disadvantage of it that the amount of personal data that is made available should be highly customizable, or it is best to find a site that provides better privacy features. Elizabeth. (2010) State that The disadvantages are also endless. Social networking sites can sell your personal information to anyone who wants to buy it, including spammers and on line predators. Even if the terms of understanding claim that no personal information will be sold, the site can change its policy at any time. If blogs or other original content is published at a site, the site can take over copyright privileges in unlimited ways. Few writers, artists and musicians are aware of this and forget to read the terms of understanding in order to find out what can happen to their works. Another disadvantage of social networking is person can lie about themselves. In order to attract other people usually will say something about them which not true .In order word they lie about themselves. According Elizabeth M. Young (2010) to True identity is never known unless people meet in person. While it is a myth that, without body language, a person's behaviour and personality can never be understood, there is never a way to get a person's complete behaviour and personality profile strictly through on line interaction.

The Abuse of Social Networking 8 Among University Students

Social networking is a time consuming activity. A person is expected to participate by reading and to commenting on many topics and posts, rather than just skimming and lurking. It takes time to figure out ways to tweak the profile page into a masterpiece of beauty and widget. It takes time to find out where the great groups and people are. Once they are found, it takes time to carry on the conversations and to develop the relationships. According to Elton Gahr (2010) Even sneaking over to a site for a guilty pleasure: games can turn into a time consuming group process. The farming, group interactive and other games can become a full time job as others want to borrow this, give that and then to talk about it all.

In the shorter term problems list is that of social networking being a time sink and perhaps a bit addicting. There are a lot of people who spend far too much time on sites like facebook. If all you're doing in spending a few breaks checking in with your friends that isn't a big deal but there are people who can spend hours a day on this. These social networking disadvantages are due to dangers, irritants, untrustworthy processes, such as selling registration information, and there are untrustworthy people who are active in social networking. The savvy social networker takes time to establish solid friendships and memberships in groups, has a sceptical mind, and holds back when prompted to give up too much personal information or to interact with total strangers.

This quantitative method has been applied by our group to obtain our own findings. Most of the findings are involving the students of University Technology Malaysia. 4.1 Questionnaire For the first part of our findings which is questionnaire, we have classified our findings into particular objectives of our research. It means that, each objective have its own findings and graphs. 4.1.1 To identify the abuse of social networking among the students

Most of the respondents are choosing the option of they do anything without thinking first as their answer for this particular question. The percentage for that answer is 77 percents. The following percentage is rude. 13 percents of the students choose rude as their option. Next is the polite option which is 7 percents. The lowest rank was occupied by the cute option which is 3 percents. For the most common answer choose by the respondents, they are choosing this answer based on their observation and experience themselves. Nowadays, there are a bunch of teenagers who are doing anything as their favour and do anything without thinking first. The purposed of this kind of teenagers doing nonsense on the social network maybe because of the lack in aspect of parental advisor and control. When they are not being watch or observe by their parent, they will do anything without thinking the consequences and the effects will affect the surrounding of social network itself. The second highest percentage is rude. The causes of the problem may be the same as the first option that we have mentioned earlier. The cute and polite option for this proposed graph may be referring to the kids that are in primary school. Of course, the majority of the primary school students are cute and polite because they are still small and not being exposed to the real world yet. Besides, may be if there are the teenagers under this category, they received a well education from their parents.

5.0 CONCLUSION This research studied the impact of social networking among students in university. The primary data that were collected by randomly distribute the questionnaire paper to the students with the total amount of 50 respondents. As we had mentioned before in the introduction, the purpose of our research are to identify the abuse of social networking among the university students, to clarify the implication of social networking to the students future, to notify the abuse of social networking in the religion perspective and to identify the new generation attitude toward the globalisation era. Based on the findings that we have discovered, regarding to the first objective most of the students in the university is literally involved in social networking everyday either on facebook, through blog or any other social networking channel. Most of them are also had gone through the experience of abuse on social networking especially facebook. For the second objective, we can say that social networking gives good and bad impact to the students future. Social networking are really helping the students on seeking for information especially through blog but in the same time, students are also keep wasting a lot of their quality time on social networking to do unbeneficial matters. Next finding is referring to the third objective. We are able to find out that the social networking thus really gives a good impact to the society in religion perspective. Last but not least, our final findings shows that most of the teenagers that were involved in social networking are not mature regarding to their behaviour and do all the things that they want without thinking. The result of this study indicates that the social networking really gives an impact to the students lifestyle either in positives or negatives way. Therefore, the students themselves should really be wise on dealing with the social networking matter and use the social networking channel for goodness to themselves, their family and society surrounding instead of the vice verse way. The university students are motivated and dedicated enough to think what are the best for themselves and what should they do to guarantee a better future instead of ruining it. It just a matter of either they have the desire or not to change to a better style of life or they are more prefer to the enjoy lifestyle that can ruin their future.
