Students should sit at a table or desk away from windows or other distractions (television, telephone, or other family members.) The desk/table should be clear with plenty of workspace. A straight back chair is helpful and all four legs of the chair should be on the floor. Studying on your bed, a soft chair or a couch is not recommended. Pens, pencils, notebooks and texts should be within arms length. For some people soft quiet music is helpful (white noise), but for most of us, we should wait to complete all homework and studying before playing music. Work 50-55 minutes and then take a 5-10 minute break, but be sure you dont overextend the break! For every year in school, students should multiply 10 minutes of study time per evening. Freshmen (grade 9 X 10 minutes) should be spending about 90 minutes a night on their school work.
