Navigation Tricks 1. Transaction codes are not case sensitive. 2. To switch from your current screen to a new transaction, type /n followed by the t-code. For example, to change from the current screen to FB03, type /nfb03

3. To open a transaction in a new window, type /o followed by the t-code. For example, typing
/oFB03 will open transaction FB03 in a new window. 4. To close all your windows and log out of SAP immediately, type /nex in the command box.

5. You can use the Enter key and the green checkmark button,

, interchangeably.

6. To get help on a particular screen field, click on it and press the F1 key. This is equivalent to
clicking the Help button, .

7. In drilldown reports and in many places in SAP, pressing F2 is equivalent to double clicking on your current selection.

8. To go back a screen, press the F3 key. This is equivalent to clicking the green back arrow, 9. For fields that have a specific set of values that can be entered, you can see a list of possible
entries by selecting the field and clicking the Input Help button, and press the F4 key. . You can also click the field

10. Many programs and reports use the F8 key to start them. Often when you have to click a button
with a Clock icon on it, , you can use the F8 key.

11. Many buttons and menu options in SAP can be accessed through key commands. To see
whether a particular button has a key shortcut, simply hover over it until a description pops up on screen, including the key shortcut if available. For example, hovering over the button often reveals a box reading Execute (F8). Shortcuts may change between transactions. 12. Alt+Tab switches between windows 13. The Tab key rotates your cursor through on screen fields 14. Shift+Tab rotates through screen fields in reverse order

15. The Page Up and Page Down keys can be used to quickly scroll through screens of text.

Select/Copy Onscreen Text 1. While viewing text-based reports or tables, it can be useful to select and copy portions of the text onscreen. Consider a report such as VKM1. 2. To select text, hold the Control key and press Y. Your cursor will change into a + symbol, and you can drag to select text:

3. Press Control+C to copy the selection, and you can paste it in another program with Control+V.

4. You can also use this technique to copy single cells in report tables. For these reports, click on
the cell you would like to copy. The entire row will be selected

5. Press Control+Y, and only the selected cell will be highlighted. Copy the contents with Ctrl+C.

Enable Quick Cut-and-Paste

1. In addition to pressing the Ctrl+Y key to select onscreen text, you can enable an option to default to selecting text.

2. Click the Customize button at the top of the screen, and click Quick Cut and Paste.

3. While this option is active, clicking and dragging over most text in SAP will automatically copy the
text to your clipboard. You can use the right mouse button to paste the data while in SAP, or continue using the Ctrl+V paste command.

4. Note: While this is on, you will not be able to clear fields by highlighting the contents and pressing Backspace, as highlighting the text will copy it instead.

Copying Table Contents 1. Many reports in SAP produce results in a table format that resembles Excel, and you may want to copy an entire column of data from the table. You can do this by clicking the column header and pressing Control+C.

2. However, If your table goes on for more than one page, you may get the following message:

3. This message means that you only copied the portion of the table that has been downloaded to
your computer from the SAP server. If you paste into Excel, you will be missing data.

4. You can either export the list to an Excel file via the buttons at the top of the table (useful for large
lists), or you can hold the Page Down button on your keyboard until you have scrolled down to the bottom of the list. Scrolling through the list causes the table to transfer to your computer, and

the above box will not appear when you copy a column. If the box does not appear when you copy, all your data will be available when you paste.

Change Your Time Zone, Date Format, Currency Format, and Password 5. From any screen in SAP, click on the SystemUser ProfileOwn Data menu item.

6. The screens that appear will allow you to set your user preferences for a number of items
throughout SAP. Click on the Defaults tab to see these.

7. From this screen, you can select the notation for number decimals, your preferred date and time format, your default printer settings, and your current time zone. You can also change your password from this screen. Once you have made your changes, press Save.

Show T-Code Names on SAP Menu 1. To show transaction names in the SAP main screen, click the ExtrasSettings menu option.

2. Click the Display Technical Names checkbox and press Enter.

3. Now, Transaction codes appear next to their descriptions.

Show and Sort Technical Codes on Dropdown Fields 1. The entries in dropdown fields have technical codes associated with their descriptions.

2. To show these codes, click the Customize button and choose Options from any screen in SAP.

3. On the Expert tab, check both boxes on the top. The first box causes the codes to be displayed,
and the second checkbox will sort the entries in ascending order of these codes.

4. Restart the current transaction for the setting to take effect.

Make Pop-up Tips Appear Faster 1. Many buttons in SAP have text descriptions that appear when you hover over them. However, the default settings require that you hover over the buttons for a long period of time.

2. To make these tips appear faster, click the Customize button and choose Options from any screen in SAP.

3. On the Options tab, click the Quick radio button in the Quick Tips section, and press Enter.

Locate Technical Field Names 1. Sometimes you may wish to know what table a screen field is stored in. To see this, click on a field and press the F1 key to open the help on that field.

2. Click the Technical Information button (which looks like a hammer and a wrench) to see more
specific information about the field.

On this screen you can see whether the field is stored in a table that can be queried. In this case, the Customer number field is stored in table KNA1, and is named KUNNR.

4. Not all fields are stored in database tables, however. If the Table Category says Struct, then the field comes from a temporary table used by the transaction, and cannot be queried directly.

Printing from SAP Note: You can set printer defaults in your user profile. See the section Change Your Time Zone, Date Format, Currency Format, and Password above for more information.

5. You can print any screen from SAP using your normal Windows printers, even PDF printers or
network print queues. Simply click the Print button at the top of the screen.

6. A box will appear asking for printer information. In the Output Device field, enter the term local.
Press enter to get a list of the printers installed on your computer.

7. Select a printer from the drop down list, and then click the Properties button. This will allow you
to select additional options, such as whether to print the document immediately. Double-click the Time of Printing field, and choose Print Immediately from the dropdown box that appears below. Check the Show Selected Print Parameters on Initial Screen box to make this dropdown appear on the initial screen next time.

8. Click the green Checkmark button when you are done. Notice that the dropdown box now appears on this screen. It will appear the next time you print a document as well.

9. Click the green Checkmark button to print your document. A printer-specific popup box may appear, depending on your windows printer settings.
