A Nazi Germany: Suffering beyond measure

-Edwin Burgos 11-2

Adolf Hitler, dictator in Germany, wished to see a Germany composed only of a pure race. What he saw, to his eyes, was a Germany full of mixed cultures and religions. He thought he should articulate a system to purify the German civilization. As a result, Hitler came up with a resolution called the Final Solution. Jews were the main reason for the Final Solution and accomplished world-wide fame for their suffering. Auschwitz was one of the concentration camps in which Jews were sent to be tortured in different ways. Life in Auschwitz was impregnated with work, torture, and death. Each Jew was subject to working in the concentration camps to, days, months or weeks later, be killed in the gas chambers. Some Jews were selected to be kapos. These Jews were in charge of keeping calm in the barracks and doing special jobs according to their special abilities. However, the SS tortured the Jews in any way possible, getting satisfaction of somebodys excessive suffering. German soldiers tortured Jews in many ways. Jews were tortured as a result of their numerous infractions to the rules set up by the Germans. One of the torture methods practiced by the Germans was of having the prisoner being tortured stand in a standing cell that was only 16 sq. ft. Another torture, and this resulted in death, was that Germans took a prisoner to a dark cell where there were no windows but only a small dark hole and the prisoner would die suffocated. Sometimes, the soldiers would light a candle in the room to use up the oxygen a little faster. Other Jews were subject to be hanged with their hands behind their back, therefore dislocating their joints. These are only some of the methods going down at the concentration camps, but only the fact of being in the concentration camp with inhumane living conditions was a torture itself. Although some prisoners were not tortured, they were subject to medical experiment. German doctors performed a wide array of experiment on the prisoners. Doctors tested the efficacy of X-rays as a sterilization method on females. They also injected chemicals into womens

uteruses in an attempt to glue them shut. Dr. Bayer bought Jews for use as guinea pigs. All prisoners were subject to medical testing. This was a common practice on Jews in concentration camps. After prisoners were killed for any reason possible, their corpses were sent to the crematorium. This was a cruel and inhumane way to end with someone who once couldve been a father, mother, son or daughter. Most importantly, Hitlers doctrine wasnt right. There is no race superior to another one. I hope that people will finally come to realize that there is only one 'race', the human race, and that we are all members of it.
