1. INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND Through a personal email from your company, contacted us, inviting us to conduct a study magnetometer Tapalpa area, State of Jalisco. we mentioned that the study area was in the vicinity of a Fe ore mine called "Stone Ball" at the request of we provide coordinates of the mine and study prospectus. Based on the location of coordinates provided proceeded to get aeromagnetic data of the Mexican Geological Service (SGM) in Ascii code and the information we proceeded to process, analyze and interpret the aeromagnetic data of the area of interest and to schedule the field work. In the ground survey work in the area we found that one of the coordinates did not match the data provided. During the visit to the mine, "Stone Ball" the Refuge owner Mr. Miramontes said that his lot is extended to a gateway that exists in the area under study. With this information and a map of where they had INEGI located the boundaries of the different batches proceeded to locate these in the aeromagnetic data support that we had to carry out the work of the magnetic field. the result was that the coordinates were provided were misplaced because the two were located within the boundaries of the lot of Mr. Miramontes.

The work was accepted because the goal before us was to follow a magnetic Fe mineralization, in which goal We are specialists, but set the actual limits of the different lots, the goal was to build our presence in the work area by some magnetic surveys. the Mr. Refugio Miramontes visited the camp Tapalpa showed us where the coordinates of your lot and magnetic survey had been done by another company. He mentioned the knowledge of alteration zones located in the Lot Mr. Oscar Alejandro Paz southward Tapalpa and offered to show us. These areas were located with GPS and proceeded to mark on maps that had support. Unfortunately all the areas were located to the margins of the maps, so we proceeded to perform a Ground magnetic survey areas showing the existence of ferromagnesian and were located in the vicinity alteration of such areas.

1. INTRODUCTION Reported in this paper the results of the analysis and interpretation of a study conducted air and ground magnetic in the El Rubi - Stone Ball, located in the Municipality of Tapalpa, State of Jalisco. The airborne geophysical survey was conducted by the Council Mineral Resources, now the Mexican Geological Survey in 1996 and recognition by the company geomagnetic studies Earth Sciences 6 to November 12, 2009. The report is structured according to the system STOP (Sequential Thematic Organization Paper) developed by the Hughes Aircraft Company, Fulerton, California (Tracey, 1974) and applied to Earth Sciences by the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey and the industrial group Alfa-Monterrey (1988, unpublished) to report technical studies senior executives. In this report first outlines the objectives study, followed by the findings and recommendations. Then comes the interpretation of magnetic survey air and ground and ends with the work.

2. OBJECTIVES

2. OBJECTIVES Air magnetometry 1. Explore mining opportunities in the mining district of "Stone Ball "in the municipality of Tapalpa in the State of Jalisco, through processing, analysis and interpretation of geophysical existing air generated by the Council of Mineral Resources (now the Mexican Geological Survey) consisting of a aeromagnetic survey. 2. Identify guidelines related aeromagnetic mining area "Piedra Bola" - "The Ruby." Ground magnetometry 1. Recognize ore Fe concentrations associated with normal bipolar magnetic anomalies in an area near mineralization in the mine "Piedra Bola". 2. Explore the possibility of mineralization in areas display surface and geological disturbances that are associated with anomalous magnetic zones.

3. RESULTS

3. RESULTS aeromagnetometry It is interpreted that the area of mining interest Piedra Bola The Ruby is correlated with a contact zone in the area under study has a NE-SW direction. From the point of view air area of interest has no clear magnetic anomaly. Contact magnetometer where the area is located Stone mining Ball is at the interface of an intrusive rock. It interprets the main existence of two domains aeromagnetic, characterized the first to be associated with an intrusive rock that generates high values of magnetism Regarding the second domain that is associated with aeromagnetic normal values of the magnetic field. The magnetic field configuration indicates that the contact between the intrusive rock and volcanic rock (andesite basalt) is can identify much of the area studied.

Ground magnetometry Because the area originally scheduled for this stage of the study was not part of the lot from Mr. Oscar A. Peace, decided to conduct a ground magnetic survey in the area closest to the area indicated by Mr. Miramontes as Refuge a zone of alteration. This decision was made because the area revealed interest in the Sr, Miramontes not supported aeromagnetic and was recognized magnetically area showed certain values closest to anomalous magnetic these areas. The results in the non-magnetic survey show any anomaly that may be associated with a body mineral of economic interest. The magnetic field configuration shown Reduced to Pole certain areas of anomalous mineral content ferromagnesian that can be correlated with rocks andesitic and basaltic volcanic.

4. RECOMMENDATIONS

4. RECOMMENDATIONS Air magnetometry Ground magnetometer conduct survey in the area contact associated with the location of the mine Piedra Bola. Aeromagnetic data supplemented with areas not covered the lot of Mr. Paz. Make a geological reconnaissance of the area with people to identify possible areas of alteration that may be associated the presence of aeromagnetic anomalies. In areas found matching soil disturbance and presence of values aeromagnetic anomalies, perform ground magnetic survey to find possible association with Fe mineralization in the subsurface.

5. INTERPRETATION

5. INTERPRETATION aeromagnetometry The interpretation was made from data processing aeromagnetic contained in a matrix (grid) format ASCII, acquired from the Mexican Geological Service (EMS) that contains X, Y and Z, the first two being coordinates and the third residual magnetic field values . With these data generated a series of new data are underpinning the interpretation. The aeromagnetic data was provided by SGM captured in an aerial survey conducted in 1970 with a plane Douglas DC-3-C at a height of 300 m above the ground and flight lines every 1000 m NS control lines E-W in 15,000 m. The analysis of the information provided was to CMR processing the data through the application of some mathematical filters (algorithms) that allow us to highlight the magnetic background information (low frequency) and we obscure the surface responses (high frequencies).

Tabla 1.

First, the residual magnetic field information (CMR) was applied a filter called reduction to the pole, which makes the comparison of our study area lead to the North Pole changing the inclination and declination of 46 geomagnetic 20 ' N and 9 15 'E (which is the one that existed in the area of study time of the survey) to 90 N and 0 respectively, with the magnetic anomalies, in theory, are located on sources that generate them. Note how the anomalies travel north for location on the map CMR. The application and mathematical combination of different filters we allowed to establish the different domains aeromagnetic (DAM) systems in the study area, which are defined as areas that have properties of susceptibility similar magnetic (showing the same behavior magnetic) and are associated with different geological units of this way were able to recognize the existence of two DAM's main.

Fig.8. Mapa que muestra la aplicacin del algoritmo matemtico de Reduccin al Polo. El recuadro muestra la zona con mayores posibilidades de mineralizacin.

Fig.8. Map showing the application of mathematical algorithm Reduction to the Pole. Box shows the most likely area of mineralization.

Here are the different characteristics of each one of the DAM: DAM I is located in most of the investigated area, has a generally elongated NE-SW preferred direction. is mainly characterized by a series of high magnetic showing a magnetization associated with the presence of ferromagnesian the rock associated with the source, which has interpreted as intrusive. The domain is undefined to the S and E mainly due to the lack of information aeromagnetic. It has a length greater than 16 km in the direction NE-SW and up to 7 km NW-SE direction. The DAM sample identified as a subdomain Ia, which identified as having a semi-reclined seating direction is WNW-ESE with a length of about 8 km in an EW direction and 3 km towards N-S. Is characterized by having three senior one magnetic and correlated with the interface area where it is associated to a contact where it is located mineralized mine "Piedra Bola". The DAM has a series of failures and / or fractures mainly NE-SW and EW also define the domain.

Fig.8. Map showing the configuration of the Analytic Signal Magnetic Field Reduced to the Pole. Note the location of the existing aeromagnetic two major domains in the workspace.

DAM II is identified to the W and N portion of the area studied, is characterized by field values associated with magnetic considered normal, no abnormalities magnetic can be associated with ore bodies of Faith economic interest. The magnetic field configuration shows the presence of some anomalies correlated with high magnetic monopole type that should be associated with chemical composition of volcanic rocks of intermediate type. Most of AMD according to the geological map of Mexican Geological Survey geological correlates with gaps and andesites andesitic (KhapBvA-A). In the eastern rock type is associated with the presence of precious minerals. In the area there are mines of Au, Ag, Zn, Cu and Pb named The Venado, San Rafael, Robert, La Mexicana, El Infiernillo I and II. The domain aeromagnetic shows almost fault zones in all directions, NW-SE, NE-SW and N-S.

Field Continued Reduced Magnetic Pole where you can see that there are guidelines aeromagnetic in the area.

The definition of DAM's different we can say that Signal configuration Analytical Field Intensity Reduced Magnetic Pole zones allowed us to interpret contacts and / or failures and / or fractures and in general the structure geological study area. The magnetic guidance helped us to define areas failure and / or fractures, which are located throughout the area studied. There are two preferential directions NW-SE and NE- SW. The aeromagnetic data is also applied filters First Vertical Derivative (1aDz), which gives us the reason change of the anomaly with elevation (vertical gradient). Also applied the second derivative filters Vertical (2aDz) which reinforces the effects near the surface the expense of deeper anomalies. This derivative is a measure of the curvature and curvature associated with long shallow anomalies.

As part of the interpretive process the magnetic data filters were applied field upward continuation potential from 100 m to 1000 m, which could effectively remove the surface noise. The filters are to change the height to the point observation. The upward continuation filter is considered a clean filter because it produces almost no side effects requiring the application of other filters to correct. due to This is used to minimize the effects of shallow sources and noise in the grids (grids). The map shows the result of applying a mathematical combination of filters, which comprise a Ascending Continuation 250m from the Analytic Signal Reduced to the Pole Magnetic Field. In theory, this combination mathematical algorithms we generate the limits of the sources magnetic. The analytic signal maps Continued Ascending us clearly show the limits to depth of sources associated with intrusive igneous rocks.

Ground magnetometry The interpretation of the land is based magnetometry data from the total magnetic field intensity (CMT) that were read with sections NS stations reading every 25 m. These data were applied to different mathematical algorithms that allowed us to eliminate noise and see possible signs of ground that could be associated with mineralization of Faith The residual magnetic field configuration shows presence of some outliers that have been associated with presence of ferromagnetic minerals in rocks. these values can be considered normal and andesitic rocks basalt which apparently are associated with the area ground survey. In the explored area with no ground magnetometry no chance in the basement you can locate a Fe ore body economic.

6. WORK

6. WORK Air magnetometry The work consisted of processing a Near 22 km NS and 22 km in EW direction information on the intensity of stray magnetic fields, on the basis of coordinates provided from the mine Stone Ball, Tapalpa Municipality, Jalisco, covering an approximate area of 484 km2. The main processes were intended to find possible sources of known mineralization and its association with magnetic susceptibility. The analysis involved in processing information containing a grid (grid) of information on the intensity of the Field Residual magnetism. The magnetic data were applied Reduction to Pole filter, 1 st and 2 nd Derivative Vertical, Analytical and Continuations Ascending Signs. Ground magnetometry 16 sections were erected with ground magnetometer reading stations every 25 m, with lengths ranging from 1.4 km (11 sections) to 3 km (5 sections) with a total of 30.4 kml.
