Synopsis
Nowadays more and more companies are taking initiatives to keep the environment green and clean but it requires lot of holistic approach .So the companies are improving there supply chain for harnessing green benefits. Supply chain activities like warehousing, distribution require large labor force, materials hand lining equipment which drain electrical and water supply which continuously creating air ,water and noise pollution. Air, water and noise pollution can be reduced through more effectively through well-implemented supply chain planning execution and partner collaboration. Supply chain process waste and adopting green practices help reduces greenhouse gases and carbon footprints. Two Must Do For Supply Chain Waste Reduction. 1.Lower Logistics cost and reduce time to market. 2.Green the supply chain, not just the logistics. Big Companies like Wal-Mart, IBM, P&G, Puma, Ford etc. have announced serious efforts to engage, collaborate and track supplier/vendor sustainability efforts. Many companies have stepped up to address issues such as human rights, fair labor and sustainable development. Now companies for total green supply chain solution they are going through internal and external supply chain process to determine the lowest carbon cost options. Companies are making sincere commitments to practice the 3RsReduce,Reuse and Recycle A new way is also found by the company for green supply chain is reverse logistics Nowadays companies like Attero leveraging technology for improving the environment. There work is to perform core returns management services like pick up, disposition, reverse logistics, refurbishment and international standards recycling in a highly integrated and automated fashion.

 Lack of technology also creating lots of problem in reverse logistics and supply chain. So there should be complete flow of information between the partners .so that they can have the right information at right time so that the shipments move along the optimal route with the least amount of handling at the lower cost .If there is gap on the flow of information flow, shipments can incur both higher freight and carbon costs. Another major step a company can take towards green supply chain is that they higher the standards of efficiency.
