It is also used in an emergency to supply a flow of alr to the flight and passenger compartments. In this case ram air is directly supplied to the left air conditioning supply duct. The pressure bulkhead check valve prevents the backflow of the air in either air conditioning ducts. When opening the Ram air valve, the cabin will not depressurize. However, to overcome the spring force to open the check valve, a speed of 250 KIAS is recommended to allow sufficient air flow to the cabin System Layout WATER SEPERATOR (LEFT / RIGHT) / ( Ip TO PACK 2 RAM AIR DUCT. There are two motor assemblies in the HSTA. Each motor assembly includes a motor, sensors and an electromechanical brake. The screwjack is connected to a gearbox module which is connected to each of the HSTA motors by a torque limiter. When electrical signals from either channel of the HSTCU are sent to the motor control unit, the electromechanical brakes on the HSTA motors are released. The brakes send a feedback signal to the HSTCU which controls the operation of the motors. The output of the gearbox module then tus the screwjack. Each anti-jam mechanism contains a quadrant, interconnected by anti-jam circuit cables. Should one of the control circuits become jammed, the pilot can overcome the restraining force of the breakout bungees by applying increased pressure on the rudder pedals. In operation, the command input is to a connecting bellcrank which is affixed to the cable pully at point A and to the connecting rod to the breakout bungee at point B. In.a no-jammed state, the bellcrank pivots at point B, causing rotation of the pully through the attaching point A.
