Carefully read the complementary reading Relationship between ethics and morals; analyze the
information according to the contents reviewed during the week and answer the questions presented
below:

After reviewing the supplemental reading, respond:

1. Gustavo Escobar, in paragraph one of the text, states that "the expression professional ethics is
misleading. What difference does the author make between the terms ethics and morals to make the
above statement understandable or coherent?

The words Ethics and Morals may seem the same but they are not, there are nuances that may indicate
that ethics and morals are two terms that can complement each other, but their meanings are different,
for example it is considered that ethics is a philosophical and scientific study while morals is purely
practical, that is to say that ethics speaks from reason and philosophical reflection.Ethics is a philosophical
and scientific study while morality is purely practical, that is to say that ethics speaks from reason and
philosophical reflection, while morality refers to the acts that we perform every day during our lives.

Morality is a set of norms that are transmitted from generation to generation, evolving over time and
varying from one society and time to another.

Ethics is considered as a set of rules and principles and reasons that each person has learned throughout
his life and established as a guide for his own conduct.

2. In the second paragraph, we read that in the history of mankind different expressions of morality
(taboos, rules, prohibitions) have appeared. If "ethics is the science that studies the morality of man in
society", in your opinion, explain at least two situations, problems, phenomena or moral expressions
(norms, codes of conduct, etc.) of today's society that could be the object of study and ethical reflection.

To be in solidarity with those in need: Every day we witness situations in which other people are in a
situation of emotional, physical or economic vulnerability, a way to put morale into practice is to offer our
support to the extent that our possibilities allow it. Solidarity is very visible when there are situations of
public commotion, but it is something we can keep in mind on a daily basis with those who need it most.

Paying off debts: Paying off our debts seems like a no-brainer, but for some people it is often more
difficult to meet their financial commitments. When we borrow something (especially money) it is our
moral duty to pay it back. That's the right way to be able to demonstrate that we are capable of
To be able to fulfill our obligations and our word, and thus achieve the necessary trust in the other person
and to reciprocate the help they gave us when we needed it.

Tell the truth: Every time we tell the truth we are demonstrating our respect and commitment to the other
person. Telling the truth is not always pleasant or comfortable, but transparency of our actions is
necessary to establish trusting relationships with those around us.

3. Thinking about your work life and ethics as applied to the world of work/professions, explain what
value, behavior or tool the subject of professional ethics can bring to your future quality job
performance.

Professional ethics in working life is very important since it consists of a set of norms and values that can
govern the actions of workers, such as responsibility, honesty, respect, etc. This is applied directly in the
work environment.

On the other hand, it should be noted that professional ethics can be widely reflected in the way workers
act, so that if any of the workers has a profound lack of values, this is reflected in the actions of the worker
and this can harm the company and his colleagues.

That is why the main objective of professional ethics is to put aside individual benefits and work together
with colleagues, considering that if the company is doing well, workers will have job stability and can work
in a peaceful and problem-free work environment.
