Assembly line

welcome to my presentation about how the assembly line was invented. first of all i`ll give you a short overview of what I`ll tell you today. the first part will be about what an assembly line actually is, the second about pros and contras and the last about one of the inventors.

introduction Here a question for all of you: does anyone of you know what an assembly line is? No? An assembly line is a working technique which is mostly used for the manufactoring of mass produced products , for example mobile phones or other products that many people buy. This is how the assembly line works, here as a simple example with a car: first one person puts all the wheels on to the floor of a car , he then passes it on to the next worker, who installs the motor of the car and then the next worker puts the seats and electronics o to it and in the end mounts the hull on the car. But of course in reality a car goes through much more steps and a big part of the car gets assembled with the help of machines. the verb "assemble" means to put something together out of one or more parts, for example when you build Lego, you assenble all the bricks to say a Lego house. So as you see , in an assembly line there are many workers who each execute one simple task at a time on a product and then pass it on to the next worker. The product itself gets moved from worker to worker by a machine, often a conveyor belt. You must have all already seen a conveyor belt, its the black black rubber mat by the cashier when you go to Migros or Coop. Foil The assembly line method has many advantages compared to traditional production. the assembly line is much faster, because each worker is an expert in his easy task and therefore is very fast at doing it. it also is faster because the product comes to the worker by itself and he doesnt have to walk around to bring all the parts to the product. but there also are some downsides to it, one is that the work is extremely repetetive and boring, so many workers get depressed and the salary in such factories usually is very low. The assembly line wasnt actually invented by one person, but evolved over a longer time period. but still many people consider henry ford as the inventor, because he was the first to really master it and use it widely. Henry Ford was the chief of the Ford Motor company and first used the method in 1908 for the production of the ford model t car. it had a huge influence on the entir world up to today, by making it possible to produce products in mass and much cheaper than before. Its astonishing that without this small invention everything would be very different today ,for example there would never be as many cars around today summary: an assembly line is a very fast and efficient working method based on splitting the job between many people, Henry Ford is considerd to be the inventor because he showed how effective it was, and without the assembly line people would have much less posessions. Im at the end of my presentation, are thereany questions?
