What is merger?
 When 2 companies merge together – it is

 Merger = amalgamation

 When one company takes over

is called takeover. It may be forced also.

What is public utility?
 Allthe companies, which are engaged in
public services for example in electricity,
water supply, health care etc. are in
public utility and in essential services.

What is section 25 company?
A company which has been setup under
section 25 of companies act to promote
social development is called section 25
company. It may be to promote
education, health, good living etc. Sec.
25 companies are exempted from putting
LTD. With their names.

What is debenture?
 It is a fixed interest bearing instrument
issued for a fixed number of years by a
company. It is issued generally for 7
years. It is generally secured instrument
(charge against assets of the company).
It may be convertible debenture also. It is
different from share – shares give you
ownership and gives you dividend (share
in profit).

What is proxemics?
 Made from proximity = near
 How do we maintain distance amoung
ourselves. General principles are:
 Intimate zone : upto 18 inch

 Personal zone: upto 4 feet

 Social zone: 4 – 12 feet

 Public zone: 12 feet or more.

How to improve
communication?
 Be sincere, be emphatic,
 Give all facts, assume nothing
 Be polite, be courteous, be confident
 Keep the receiver’s interest in mind
 Allow time to respond,
 Avoid vague and long sentences
 Use familiar words
 Say something interesting

Where do you spend most of
your time in communication?
 At least 45% in listening – poor listeners
cannot be good communicator – train
yourself to be good listener
 Listening (not just hearing) = understand,
revise, ask – if not clear, nod and show
that you have understood, maintain
cheerful expressions to encourage
speaker.

reading, writing (only 9%).
