STANTON COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL

1149 West 13th Street ~ Jacksonville, FL 32209

September 2, 2011 Dear Parents/Guardians of ______________________________________: In an attempt to foster a better understanding of the concepts of journalism introduced in Chapter 1, I will be showing the documentary JFK: Breaking the News next week. I feel that it is important that students experience good examples of the journalistic experience in this multimedia form so that they may gain a greater appreciation for it. This film focuses on the way in which both print and broadcast journalists covered the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963. It is a wonderful companion to our present chapter that introduces the history of American journalism; however, since the documentary is not rated, I need your permission to allow your son/daughter to view it. An in-class assignment will be given during the viewing, and no student will be penalized if permission is not granted, instead, an alternate assignment may be given. Please check the appropriate box, sign, and return to school. Thank you in advance and please contact me if there are any questions at 630-6760 x143. May your child view the film? YES NO ___________________________________________________ Please sign here Sincerely,
