This type of presentation tests what the children already know, and leads them to discover the rules by experimenting and then coming to a conclusion. It is part of a Test-Teach-Test lesson approach. Distribute the adjective cards to each group. Tell children that they must sort the cards into groups of 5 nouns and 3 groups of 5 adjectives (5 x colour, 5 x material and 5 x opinion). Then they must make 5 sentences by putting the word cards in the correct order. This is a controlled practice to check understanding and re-enforce the new concept introduced in the presentation. You can make it fun by getting groups to compete with each other. Practice Now the children are going to use their own objects. First play a game: o tell the children not to take out their objects from their bags. o Put the children in pairs. One child in the pair should wear a blindfold. o The blindfolded child takes an object from the bag, feels it, describes it and tries to guess what it is. o Pairs take turns with the blindfold until they have used all the objects. . 3 5 %03 5 5 + )5 + 5 ( 5 . :%53 . . . .

Practice

In this activity you are really testing the childrens ability to remember and use the language you have presented. Dont correct them while they are speaking, because you will interrupt their fluency. Instead you should monitor and note down any mistakes they make. Put some of the mistakes on the board and elicit the correct sentences. Then ask the children to write 3 sentences about their partners objects. When they have finished they give their sentences to their partner to correct. They can ask you for help too. Why give their sentences to a partner? Peer correction is a good way of increasing childrens awareness of their own mistakes and encourages them to be more independent learners.

Wrap Up

It would be a nice idea to finish the lesson with something more personal. You could ask the children to describe the most important object in their life. Ask them lots of questions to encourage fluency.
