Intended Use
Drdiger Vapo-® 2000 is an unhoated, calibrated anaesthetic
vvaporisor for tho enrichment of dry, fresh medical gas in
anosthosia dolivory systoms with acouratoly controlled
‘concentrations of vapour from liquid anaesthetic agents,
‘Tho concontration dolivored i, for the most part, not
influenced by operating end ambient conditions, such as
temporature, gas flow and ventilation pressure.
“The Vapor 2000 is suitable for use in strong magnetic fields
(MRI equipmont) when used in accordance with the operating
instructions on page 24,
Each Vapor is calibrated for a specified anaesthetic agent and
is only suitable for that anaesthetic agent.
Differont models of Vapor are specitie for different
anaesthetic agents and are marked accordingly.
‘The Vapor is inserted in the fresh gas line ofthe anaesthesia
delivery system which typically delivers a continuous fresh ga.
flow. The Vapor is connected between the freshgas flow:
control unit and the fresh-gas outlet,
‘The Vapor is not suitable for use with a breathing eystem due
to high pneumatic resistance.
Proper functioning of the Vapor is dependent on the direction
‘of flow. t must be connected and operated in accordance with
the direction of flow specified on the machine.
‘The use of the Vapor with differant anaesthesia delivery
ystems io, therefore, only pormissible and safe when itis used
with the appropriate special adapters.
‘Simultaneous operation of several Vapors switched in series is,
‘ot permissible, particularly for different anaesthetic agents.
Drliger recommend thatthe output concentration is monitored,
to dotoct any hazardous output values, using a monitor which
hhas continuous moaeurement and upper and lower alarm
its,
Installation and/or operation with anaesthosia delivery systoms
in mobile vehicles, aeroplanes, helicopters and ships is only
permissible ater consultation with Drager and their
agreement.
‘The Vapor must only be used by qualified medical
yersonnel to ensure that any melfunction can be
remedied without delay.
‘According to US and Canadian law thase machines must only
bee used by or onthe instructions ofa fully qualified modical
pracitions

Handle Vapor with caro.
Be careful not to tit or drop.
Do not carry by the control dial, control dial caps or
locking lever for the plugin adapter.
Risk of Injury.
Do not use Vapor if it has been dropped.
Damage may result in incorrect output concentration.
Control dial
For ewitching on and off and adjusting the concentration of
anaesthetic agent. Inthe »O« sotting and in the sTe ransport
‘setting, the control dial is locked but it can be freed by
pressing Ou button,
Allillustrations of a Vapor on an anaesthesia delivery system
show a stylised anaesthesia delivery system in the
background, Al illustrations ofthe traneport setting show only,
the disconnected Vapor by ise.
»ONv~ Switching on and adjusting concentration:
‘Only adjust concentration whon the Vapors connected to an
aneesthosia delivery system.
1. Press Ox button and
2 turn control dial anticlockwise to required concantration of
anaesthetic agent.
Concentration values greater than 6 vol% are shown in
Invorted form in order to draw attention to the danger of ahigh
‘output concentration and restricted flow range.
90x ~ switching off:
When Vapor is connected to an anaesthesia delivery system
only sot to Ou when anaasthetic agent is not baing
administered.
3. Tum control dial clockwiee to #0 — »0« button engages.
When control dial is set at »0w oF above »0s, do not use
Vapor at an angle of more than 30°.
Risk of incorrect output concentration or anaesthetic.
‘agent escaping otherwise.

‘Tu Transport:
(Only 20t to »T« when Vapor i boing disconnected from tho
anaesthesia delivery system or is connected to the parking
holder
1. Press »O« burton and
2. tum control dial clockwise to »Te trangpor eotting —
»0« button engages.
3. For plugin adapter: ongage locking lever in control dial
‘At Ts setting Vapor may be moved in any position.
not at »Tu setting, isk of incorrect output concentration,
‘of anaesthetic agent escaping otherwise.
Connecting and Interlock systems
When the Vapor is used with differant anassthosia dalivory
systems, different connecting systems have to be used.
When anaesthesia dolivory systoms havo several Vapor
connectors, the different interlock systems" ensure that only
fone Vapor can be used at any one time, while the others are
switched off and blocked.
‘Tho interlock system on tho vaporisor and anaesthesia delivery
system must be functional. Especially wth Interlock 2, the
nibs must be engaged and undamaged in both openings of,
the interlock disc. Seo also "Chocking Readiness for
Operation" Page 36.
‘A malfunctioning Interlock may endanger the patient by
‘causing overdosing or a mixture of anesthetic agents.
Plugin edapter/plugin connector
to connect Vapor safely and change over quickly.
Most plugin connectors have valves to allow fresh gas to flow
through, whothar the Vapor i, or is not, connectod. These
plugin connectors can be identified by tho moveable valve
ingerts in the inner holes on the connector pins.
Many Vapors with plugin adaptors carry an anesthetic agent
‘code on the back, which ean be read and displayed by
anaesthesia delivery aysiems designed for the purpose,
4 Tocconnect/disconnect, contro dial must be at the aT
setting and the lacking lavar must he engaged in the control
dial.
5 The holes inthe plugin adapter on the Vapor fit onto the
pins on the plugin connector on the anaesthesia delivery
‘system.
6 To secura/reloase, ewing locking lever into position and
‘engage/ disengage the pin in the cover plato on the Vapor.
7. The locking lever and pin help to ensure that the Vapor is
handied correctly and that it can only be fitted and
disconnested when the control cia is atthe »T setting
41 Tho cifrent ntriook aytame aro not compatible with each oth
However, ine Vapor can be mosifed tram ene sytem to anoPlug.in DW-2000 adepter with Interlock 2
For connecting to Drager plugin connectors,
DW-2000 is not compatible with the Driger Auto Exclusion
System.
For anaesthesia delvory eysteme with two plugin connectors
‘combined with Interlock 2,
The locking bas, which an only be engaged in the control dial
when at Os sotting, allows only one Vapor to be in use at any
‘one time.
llustation: lft Vapor blocked, ight Vapor operational
Drager Auto Exclusion plugin adapter
for connecting to Drager Auto Exclusion plugin connectors
and Deiger plugin connectors,
For anaosthesia delivery eystome with Auto Exclusion plugin
connectors.
Whoa @ Vapor ie switched on, a pin on the undorside of tho
plugin adapter is pushed out. This prevent other Vapors on
adjacent plugin connectors being switched on via an intornal
mechanism,
Iustvation: left Vapor blocked, right Vapor operational
Method of OperationMettod of Operation
Plugin S-2000 adapter with Interlock $
For connecting to Selectatec-compatibie plugin connectors.
For anaesthesia delivery systems with several plugin
connectors combined with Interlock S.
When a vaporisor is siitched on, two pins on the side of the
relevant plugin adapter are pushed out. These prevent other
‘veporisers on adjacent plug in connectors being switchad on.
Iastration: left vaporicer blocked, right Vapor operational.
Permanent connection
‘2 pormanent installation in frosh-gae line for anaesthesia
dlvery systems, with the appropriate connector options.
For anaesthesia delivery systoms with several plugin
‘connectors combined with Interlock NM.
When a Vapor is switched on, a lover is activated which
prevents other Vapors on adjacent connectors being switched,
IMustration: conteal Vapor operat
blocked,
alright and left Vapor
Other Interlock systems are also used, such as Interlock 1,
‘hich are very similar to Interlock NM, but which need not fit
‘a Vapor with Interlock NMD.
