Abstract
The

The sansfer standart wes a 20 b graduated

pilot laboratory. Furticipants were the national
laboratories of Argentina, Brazil, Canada,
Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay
and the USA, all of which are members of the
Sisiexa Interamericano de Metrologia (SIV).

Introduction
Volume measurements have beon the basis for
ustody wansfer in comenercial transactions of
aluable fluids, hence, the comparison of
volume measurement systems Is important for
countries whose. economies are heavily
dependent on oil production as well as for large
scale importers of this commodity. The
objectives pursued in a comparisen of this
nature are mainly focused on the muttal
recognition of calibration services araong

Método de calibracion
‘Todos los laboratorios participantes en

Las técnicas empleadas para la determinacion del

Calibration method
Allthe laboratories taking pax in the
comparison used the gravimetric
methed, which has been recognized
as the primary method for volume
determination. All participants
determined the mass of water in the
container, sublracting the mass of
thecontainer from the total mass of
water and container, and correcting for air
buoyancy: The transfor standard was calibmatedt

Various weighing techniques wore used for the
determination of the mass valse of the water
held in the container. Some countries used the
double substitution method, others used the
