The Board of Studies in Final MBBS degree course in the Meeting held on 03.05.2010 recommended various academic issues relating to Final MBBS degree course. The recommendations were approved in the 39th Meeting of the Standing Academic Board held on 21.6.2010 and also approved under Resolution No.23 passed at the 198th Governing Council held on 14.7.2010. 1. Theory Examinations: Theory Paper Format is as follows: Marks Structured Essay Short Notes Short Answers Minutes meeting of the
2 x10 = 20 30 minutes (15 x 2) 5 x10 = 50 100 minutes (10 x 10) 2 x15 = 30 45 minutes ( 3 x 15)
When there are 2 papers in Theory, the candidates must secure minimum 50% in Theory examination. 2. Clinical Examinations: For Clinical subjects the format is as follows: The common format for the Clinical Examination is one long case for 45 minutes, 2 short cases (15 x 2) 30 minutes and Viva is split into two parts with 50 marks each examined by one Internal Examiner and One External Examiner respectively. 3. VIVA VOCE - Total 100 marks. Viva Voce - I carries 50 marks and Viva Voce II carries 50 marks.
Viva Voce I is split into five parts of ten marks each. The Record Note Book of that particular subject must be presented during Viva Voce-I.
The record note books containing clinical cases seen discussed, operated during the first clinical, pre- final and final year postings must be chronologically recorded and certified by the respective Professor in each year. Viva Voce II is based on OSCE pattern of examination of the respective subject. 5 to 10 stations for a total of 50 marks. 4. Internal Assessment: Internal Assessment is a continual process in which theory and Clinical Examination are conducted during the First Clinical / Pre-clinical and the Final Year posting. Three Internal Assessment Examinations are conducted during the Final Year ( 1 in 1st Clinical, 1 in PreClinical and 3 in Final Clinical). 5. CRRI: The distribution of the posting for CRRI as per MCI norms is as follows :Compulsory Community Medicine Medicine including 15 days of Psychiatry Surgery including 15 days of Anaesthesia 2 Months 2 months 2 months
Obst. / Gynae. Including Family Welfare Planning 2 months Paediatrics Orthopaedics including PMR ENT Ophthalmology Casualty 1 month 1 month 15 days 15 days 15 days

During the training period CRRI must compulsorily undertake training like Trauma life support, Basic life support and Paediatric advance life support like Neonatal and Paediatric advance life support training (PALS and NALS) in the respective Departments. They should have practical training in communications skills to enable them establish good rapport with patients.
The Unit Chief should encourage the CRRI s to take active interest in all the Continuing Medical Education Programmes, Clinical Meetings and present Scientific Papers and Journals.
6. Certain Modification in postings of Final MBBS students:. The Undergraduate students during their VIII & IX Semester will do their Surgical posting, Medical Posting and Obstetrics in a single stretch of 12 weeks each; The posting in General Medicine, General Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology are combined in 12 weeks postings and not split as a present. Ortho postings 8th and 9th Semester will be for 4 weeks. Anaesthesiology from 9th Semester is shifted to 7th Semester (2 weeks). Skin and STD posting posted to 7th Semester (2 weeks).
The above resolutions from Sl. No.1 to 6 will come into force from February 2011 examination onwards.

To follow the measures proposed to the Under-Graduate Students during CRRI / Internship
training.
The Under-graduate Medical students during CRRI/Internship period of training has to attend CME Programme and to secure a minimum of 40% credit points. If the candidate fails to secure 40% of credit points in the CME programme the Provisional Certificate - II will not be issued by the University. The above said Regulations will come into effect from February 2011 onwards.
8. REGULATIONS OF ATTENDANCE TO UNDER GRADUATE DEGREE COURSES. 90% of attendance of the working days is mandatory for all undergraduate students to appear for the University examination. Number of working days in a year should not be less than 270 days excluding Sundays and holidays. For First year 90% of attendance will be calculated from the date of joining of the course. There shall be no condonation for lack of attendance for undergraduate degree courses.
The said resolution will come into effect from the academic year 2010-2011 onwards.
9. MODIFIED REGULATIONS FOR RE-ADMISSION AFTER BREAK OF STUDY TO ALL THE UNDER-GRADUATE & POST-GRADUATE COURSES. The Modified Regulations for Re-admission after break of study for all Under-graduate and Post- graduate degree courses has came into effect from 1.6.2010 onwards. 10. REVISED CLINICAL / PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN FINAL MBBS DEGREE COURSE. The Revised Clinical/ Practical Examinations of Ophthalmology, Oto- Rhino-
Laryngology, Community Medicine subjects in Final MBBS Part I and Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Family Welfare, Paediatrics including Neonatology subjects in Final MBBS Part II degree Course are enclosed and this will be implemented from February 2011 Examinations onwards. *******
