Miss New Orleans Pageant

Congratulations, you have started the first step to becoming a contestant in the 81st Annual Miss New Orleans Pageant. We are a preliminary to the Miss Louisiana USA Pageant/Miss Louisiana Teen USA Pageant, Mrs. Louisiana America & Miss Louisiana State Pageants. We look forward to meeting you! The 81st Annual Miss New Orleans Pageant will take place on Sunday, December 4th, 2011 in the beautiful Ballroom of the Landmark Hotel in Metairie, La. Our pageant is open to girls and women of all ages. The goal of the Miss New Orleans Pageant is to empower young girls and women of all ages and serve as a vehicle for their education, careers, talents and future success as leaders in our community. You can be from anywhere within the state of Louisiana to participate! *Registration Fee: The registration fee is $25 and can be paid online at our site: www.missneworleans.org. You can make all payments under the How To Register link by clicking the DONATE button which will take you to paypal. The DONATE button allows you to enter the exact amount that you would like to pay. Register online by September 1st! *Entry Fee & Forms: The entry fees are: $250 for the Miss & Teen divisions and $150.00 for the Mrs, Ms. & Classic divisions. The entry fee must be paid by October 1st (which is the deadline for all three forms as well including: (1) Entry Form, (2) BIO & FACT/Contestant Profile form, and (3) Emcee form). Your $25 registration fee goes toward the entry fee. *Headshot, Ads, Ad Forms & Other Fees: You must also email a black and white or a color headshot picture by November 1st (which is the deadline for all Ads, Advertisement Forms, Ad money, Headshots/Photos and ALL OTHER FEES such as: reserved tickets, wristband fee for dressing room assistant (if you choose to have someone in the dressing room to assist you). *Pageant Program Book: If you are interested in defraying the entry fee cost, you can elect to sell ads for the program booklet. You may ask family, friends and/or businesses/companies to sponsor you. They may purchase full page and/or half page ads which will be featured in the 2011 Miss New Orleans Pageant Program Book. We would like to encourage you to sell ads in order to let the community know that you are competing in the prestigious Miss New Orleans Pageant. Please

fill out the Advertisement Form and mail it in for each business/person you sell a Program Ad to. The person who sells the most ads will receive a crown and be featured on the back cover of the 2011 Miss New Orleans Pageant program book. Below are the Sizes & Fees for Ads: Full page ad is: $200.00 (half, which is $100.00, will go towards your entry fee) Half page as is: $100.00 (half, which is $50.00, will go towards your entry fee) Deadlines/Please Note: It is very important to meet all deadlines. Please make every effort to turn in all fees and material on time to ensure that you will be able to participate in the pageant, be featured in the program book and on the website. Again, keep in mind that if you have already paid your $25 deposit (online or by mail), this will be applied to your balance. For example, if your entry fee is $250 and you have already paid your $25 registration fee, your balance would be $225. Dressing Room: Each contestant is allowed ONE person to go in the dressing room. The fee is $10 and you will be given a back stage wrist band for her to wear. She is also responsible for her door admission (ticket). There will also be helpers to assist you on a timely bases in the dressing room. So again, we would like to say congratulations and good luck! It is $250 for the Teen & Miss divisions and $150 for the Mrs.,Ms. & Classic divisions. (Deadline: October 1st) 5______E-Mail a black and white or color photograph for program book to: info@missneworleans.org (Deadline: November 1st) 6______E-Mail ads and MAIL advertisement form for each ad sold. Must be in a jpeg or doc format. (Deadline: November 1st) 7______ One piece or Two Piece Swimsuit. (Wear Taupe or Clear Heels with your swimsuit). Two Piece Swimsuit has to be no more than 2 inches from belly button and at least 1 1/2 inches on the side. Please have a sarong to match your suit. (Bring sarong to rehearsals). It may be any color sarong. Material for sarongs can be purchased from Cloth World or Walmart (about 2 to 3 yards of chiffon material is needed).

Note.....Mrs. Ms & Classic will compete in DRESSY PANT WEAR (a Two Piece outfit). Such as: Pants and a dressy top, blouse or blazer. It may have stones and can be accessorized!
8______Evening Gown (Any style or color). Make sure the length touches close to your toes, You don't want your gown to be too short or too long. You can loose points that could be critical to your winning or placing in the top 5. 9______Interview Suit or Pants Suit for the Mrs., Ms. & Classic Delegates. For Teen and Miss, there have been changes this year. The interview wardrobe for Teen and Miss are according to Miss Louisiana USA guidelines. Teen Division: Teens must wear a nice, fitted pair of blue jeans and a dressy top of their choice. Jeans should be nice and free of holes, but can have rhinestones, ribbons, belts, etc. Acceptable tops include jackets, blouses, halters, sweater sets and camisoles. Select heels that compliment your outfit. Miss Division: Choose a suit, dress or skirt/slacks/ blouse/sweater in a color and style that compliments your body type and personality. Feel free to select modern stylish pieces that reflect your personality. Do not wear cocktail attire. Select heels and hosiery that compliment your outfit.

10______Opening/Production Number Dress. The theme of the pageant will most likely have to do with the Saints Superbowl Win since this is the first pageant after the New Orleans Saints big victory! Everyone must wear a black dress and gold accessories for the Production/Opening Number. Cocktail dresses is the look were going for! Not too Short! When selecting your dress, remember ladies to stay classy. You may wear black heels or gold heels for the Opening/Production Number. 11______Video/Picture Forms. There are no cameras or videos allowed. Therefore, you can purchase a video and pictures at the pageant. Enclosed is a form so that you can order the video ahead of time. 12______You may want to bring a long mirror and an extension cord for the dressing room.

Contestants Pageant Itinerary


DATE: Sunday, December 4, 2011 LOCATION: The Best Western Landmark Hotel 2601 Severn Avenue, Metairie, LA 70002 1-504-888-9500 (To get a possible group special/pageant rate, mention you are with the Miss New Orleans Pageant!) Schedule of Events: All of the following including: Orientation, Interviews, Rehearsal & Pageant will take place at the Best Western Landmark Hotel. The Pageant will be held in the Mardi Gars Ballroom nearest to the Carnival Room and the Orientation, Interviews & Rehearsal will be held in the Carnival Room located on the 1st Floor. 9:00-10:00 am.Orientation for ALL DELEGATES (Carnival Room; 1st Floor) Note: Orientation/Rehearsals are Mandatory. You will get your program book & goodie bag at this time. You may also exchange cards, notes & gifts with the other contestants in your division at this time. 10:00-11:00am.Prepare for Interviews 11:00 am.Interviews (Carnival Room; 1st Floor) NOTE: The Interviews will last 3 to 4 minutes, Questions will be derived from Your Bio/Fact Sheet. You can either sit or stand during the Interviews. It's your choice. 1:30 pm.Lunch break for judges & contestants 2:30 pm.Rehearsal for Opening & Number & Pageant Production Number. NOTE: Bring shoes & sarong with you. (GROUP PHOTO OF ALL CONTESTANTS WILL BE TAKEN before rehearsal begins) 4:30 pm - 5:45 pmPageant Preparation.Meet with Hair Stylist at this time. You are allowed one person to be in the dressing room with you at a cost of $10 (for a backstage assistant wristband). Note: You will be given the wrist band for them to wear for back stage. If this person will be watching the pageant in the Ball Room, they must also purchase a ticket for the pageant. They will be given an different color wrist band to enter the ball room. This way, they can assist you in the dressing room and watch your performance too. 6:00 pm.SHOW TIME! All Contestants should report to the dressing room back stage no later than 5:45PM with their entire wardrobe. You may choose to bring a mirror and an extension cord with you for your convenience. PLEASE NOTE: All contestants may swap small gifts, notes, cards, etc among the delegates in their division along with five for your judges. This can be simple and inexpensive items, such as

candles, candy, photo frames or other novelty items. Place your name and division on each (using a tag, sticker, etc). You will be given a general idea of the number of delegates in your division, one week prior to the pageant. If you like, you may also give a goody bag to the going away queen from last year in your division! BRING THESE TO THE ORIENTATION/REHERSALS!

IMPORTANT INFO: HOTEL RESERVATIONS: Please call the hotel for rates. Let them know that you are with the Miss New Orleans Pageant so that you can get the special group rate. Call 1-504-888-9500 and say the you are with the pageant. Please bring mirrors and a hanging rack if you need one. The hotel only provides a few of them. PHOTOGRAPHER: A photographer will be on hand with special rates for packages. NO cameras are allowed in Ballroom. VIDEO: In addition to having a photographer, we will also have a videographer taping the production. They will be on hand with special rates as well. TICKETS: You may purchase reserved tickets online on the website at: www.missneworleans.org Please find enclosed the Reserved Seating Ticket Order Form. Reserved seating will be the only tickets you can buy ahead of time. The price is $25 per ticket. A confirmation will be either emailed or mailed to you as soon as we receive payment and your tickets will be at the will call table before the pageant. General admission tickets will be sold at the door for Adults $20.00. Children 12 and under tickets are $10.00. PROGRAM BOOKS: Programs will be sold for $10.00 WRISTBAND/DRESSING ROOM: Please let the director know the name of the hair stylist/assistant that will be assisting you backstage. You will only be allowed to have one person in the dressing room with you. There will be a $10 charge for that person & she will be given a wristband to wear. You will receive the wristband at orientation. This person will still be responsible for purchasing a ticket for the pageant and will receive a separate wristband for entry in the ballroom (to view the pageant). PAGEANT PREPARATION: It is a great idea to start reading the current affairs going on in our city, state and nation. Knowledge is a powerful tool when landing interviews.
