Announcements Some of our Berkeley hymnals (big United Methodist Hymnal, smaller black The Faith We Sing and new green Worship and Song) seem to have migrated out of the sanctuary. Perhaps one or more of them lives with you? We would greatly appreciate their return to the sanctuary, no questions asked. We purchased enough of each at the outset to cover the sanctuary, but we are now missing many, including the new green Worship and Song hymnals introduced just this summer. We appreciate your help so we can provide everyone with a church hymnal on Sundays. You can purchase these hymnals for your personal use at home from the Cokesbury store, 4211 S. Lamar (Lakehills Plaza Shopping Center, north side of Hwy. 290 access road). Next Sunday: Blessing of the Backpacks! Youre invited to bring yours to the 10:50 a.m. worship service. We will ask Gods blessing and guidance for our students, their teachers and all of our BUMC educators as a new school year begins. Phyllis Coombes is extending the beginning Tai Chi class to the end of August. The class is free and is held in the Fellowship Hall on Sundays from 4:00 5:00 p.m. Health experts recommend Tai Chi for balance and fall prevention, strength training, arthritis, diabetes and improving circulation. Phyllis is a certified trainer and has been teaching for 5 years. Men and women, church members and members of the community are all welcome. Wear loose clothing and low heeled flexible shoes. All Austin District churches are invited to attend a seminar led by Bishop Robert Schnase, Generosity as a Way of Life, offered at Tarrytown UMC on Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you have benefited from his books, Five Practices of a Fruitful Church or Forty Days of Fruitful Living, which we have used here, please consider attending. Berkeley will pay the $10 registration fee, including lunch, for anyone indicating you want to attend by Monday, August 15. Please notify the church office or Jeff Cecil, chair of Stewardship, at njcecil@sbcglobal.net. Carpooling from BUMC can be arranged if desired; Tarrytown UMC is located at 2601 Exposition, Austin.
