First Homework Assignment Algebra I

Parents and Guardians, I am excited to have your child in my Algebra I class this year. I count it a privilege to have the opportunity to be a part of your childs education and I am looking forward to a great year! Algebra I is a fast paced course where your child will be building the foundation for all future math classes. Because success in algebra I is critical to your childs future education, it is necessary to lay some ground rules for this course. Number one, your child should come prepared to learn each day with all their materials. Secondly, I will permit no disruptions to the learning process. Students who interrupt the learning of others will be removed from the classroom immediately. And thirdly, no late work will be accepted that is more than two days late. In light of these rules, I want all my students and parents to know that I am here to help them be successful in this class. I offer morning tutorials Mon-Fri at 8:00. I also offer a more intensive tutorial every Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 pm. Retakes will be allowed on all assessments. If your child was not successful on a quiz or test, they may come to tutorials to get help and then retake the assessment. This allows your child to receive one-onone instruction and a way to improve their grade. Please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime if you have questions or concerns about this course. kim.hughey@comalisd.org To help me communicate with you this year and get to know your child better, would you please take a few moments to fill in the answers to the following questions.
